Pig price today 8/23

* The pig market in the North did not record many new changes compared to yesterday.

Currently, traders in most provinces and cities are trading live pigs at unchanged prices.

Thai Nguyen province alone slightly reduced the price by VND 1,000/kg to VND 60,000/kg.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 59,000-61,000 VND/kg.

* According to records, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions decreased by 1,000 VND/kg in some places.

Specifically, Ha Tinh and Khanh Hoa both adjusted the purchase price down to 58,000 VND/kg.

The remaining provinces have stable prices today.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 57,000 - 60,000 VND/kg.

* In the Southern region, pig prices remained stable across a wide area.

Of which, 59,000 VND/kg continues to be the highest live pig price in the region recorded in Dong Nai province.

Live pigs in the remaining provinces are being purchased stably at around 57,000-58,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 57,000-59,000 VND/kg.

* The downward trend in live pig prices has been going on for nearly a month and currently, the price of live pigs is around 60,000 VND/kg, the price of live pigs has decreased by about 7,000-10,000 VND/kg compared to last month. However, transactions are still gloomy, and traders are also buying less than before.

One of the reasons for the drop in pork prices is that in recent days, due to the impact of African swine fever, many farms are afraid of the epidemic, so they are selling quickly.

In addition, the price of live pigs in China is only about 45,000-47,000 VND/kg. In Thailand and Cambodia, the price of live pigs is also lower than in Vietnam. This leads to the situation of smuggling and transporting pigs from Cambodia to the border area of Long An province still taking place in many sophisticated and complicated forms.

Currently, domestic supply remains abundant as the total number of pigs nationwide increased by about 2.5%; pork output is estimated at 2.3 million tons, up 6.5% over the same period last year. Therefore, ministries, sectors and localities need to continue to strictly control smuggled pigs to avoid affecting the domestic market, leading to further price declines.
