In the domestic market, coffee prices at noon on March 18 were recorded to increase following the world trend, fluctuating between 132,000-134,200 VND/kg. This level increased slightly by 700-1,200 VND/kg compared to the common price of the previous day.
Specifically, coffee prices in Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Lam Dong... are commonly 132,500-134,200 VND/kg. Meanwhile, in Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai, the price of this agricultural product is recorded at a lower level, commonly 132,000-133,000 VND/kg.
Similarly in the world market , coffee prices on both London and New York exchanges were recorded to increase.
Accordingly, at the end of the trading session in the early morning of March 18, on the London floor, the price of Robusta coffee increased the most by 77 USD/ton.
Specifically, the delivery term for May 2025 increased by 77 USD/ton, to 5,474 USD; the delivery term for July 2025 increased by 74 USD, to 5,451 USD/ton; the delivery term for September 2025 increased by 69 USD/ton, to 5,387 USD.
On the New York Stock Exchange (USA), Arabica coffee prices also increased sharply, from 1.58% to 1.64%. For the delivery period of May 2025, Arabica coffee prices increased by 140 USD/ton, to 8,450 USD.
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on March 18, a representative of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association said that coffee prices are likely to remain stable at a high level in the near future. However, prices may fluctuate in the second and third quarters of 2025 because some countries are entering their harvest season, especially Brazil.
In addition, speculative activities, trade war situations between major countries... if changed will also affect the price of this item. Therefore, businesses should be cautious when deciding to hold goods.
"With a price of over 100,000 VND/kg, farmers have earned very high profits when selling. But for businesses, this is both a challenge and an opportunity. Recently, many businesses have made large profits. But there are also businesses that have suffered heavy losses," he said.
Thus, since the beginning of the year, after many increases, domestic coffee prices have recently been consistently above 130,000 VND/kg. At one point, the price reached a historical peak of over 135,000 VND/kg.
Coffee exports in 2024 will reach 1.3 million tons with a value of 5.62 billion USD, down 17.1% in volume but up 32.5% in value. Many experts believe that if output is good and prices remain stable at a high level, Vietnam's export value of this commodity this year could reach 6.5-7 billion USD.
