Sharing with Thanh Nien on September 4, the leader of a media unit said: "It is likely that this year Vietnamese audiences will not be able to watch live coverage of the events at the largest sports event in the continent. Five years ago, the copyright for ASIAD 18 also attracted special public attention. Only when the Olympic team went deep into the round of 18, thanks to the strong financial support of two large enterprises, the Voice of Vietnam was able to buy the copyright. But ASIAD 19 is a very different story as no Vietnamese enterprise has spoken out about this issue. Relevant ministries and branches cannot force stations to buy and cannot interfere in the negotiations. By mutual agreement, the Korean partner who owns the ASIAD 19 media copyright package in Vietnam has negotiated with a number of stations or units but has not found a common voice."

As the person directly negotiating the copyright package for ASIAD 19, a representative of a pay TV station shared that, in the past, when copyright issues had not yet become a hot topic in society, the negotiation process was relatively easy because partners often divided into small packages for stations to choose from. Dividing packages will help stations come up with a plan that fits their budget. As for ASIAD 19 or many other major tournaments in the world, partners sell the whole package at a very expensive price.
A representative of a media unit provided new information, the copyright price of ASIAD 19 is no longer very expensive, up to 15 million USD, but has decreased to 7 million USD (about 178 billion VND, not including transmission fees, taxes...). Although it is called a decrease, the number 7 million USD is also extremely high compared to the amount of 200,000 USD that a TV station in Vietnam spent to buy the copyright of ASIAD 14 in 2014. By ASIAD 18, the amount increased rapidly, to 2 million USD. "Sometimes money is not too big of a problem for us. However, whether the negotiation process is successful or not depends on the attitude of the partner. They seem cold, not enthusiastic. Or maybe that is a trick of the partner", said this representative.
