Dan Tri reported that Son Heung Min's penalty goal brought Tottenham a 4-1 victory over Newcastle on the evening of December 10, helping the Korean striker put his name on the list of great players in the Premier League.
Son Heung-min became the seventh player to score 10 or more goals in eight consecutive seasons. The South Korean star followed in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane, Thierry Henry and Sadio Mane to reach the milestone.
Rooney has scored 10 or more goals in 11 consecutive seasons, while Lampard is next with 10. Aguero and Kane have both scored 10 or more in nine consecutive seasons, while Henry and Mane have both ended their Premier League careers with 10 or more in eight seasons.
Not stopping there, Son Heung Min also had 2 assists against Newcastle, thereby surpassing Christian Eriksen to become the Tottenham Spurs player with the most assists in the Premier League era.
The South Korean has now created 83 goals for Tottenham, while Eriksen has assisted 82 during his time in north London.
"I can't help but praise my boys. They put in a lot of effort today. We were brighter in attack, I think Son Heung Min was excellent and that influenced the others," Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou told Sky Sports .
Captain Son Heung Min himself was also very happy when his team Tottenham ended a 5-match winless streak and won 3 important points against Newcastle, thereby taking 5th place in the Premier League rankings.
The 31-year-old striker affirmed: "Obviously, when you win a game, you enjoy it more. It's important to win after such defeats, we don't want to get bogged down. I hope we can continue to play like this and stay humble."
