Meet Thailand: Connecting Lao Cai - Thailand

Comrade Hoang Quoc Khanh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee and Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam co-chaired the conference.

The conference was attended by more than 100 delegates, including leaders of departments, branches, localities, and enterprises of Lao Cai province and representatives of departments and offices of the Thai Embassy in Vietnam; agencies, organizations, enterprises, and Thai investors in Vietnam and from Thailand; and representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking at the program, Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam, expressed her joy at coming to Lao Cai for the fourth time. During the reception by Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Dang Xuan Phong, she was very impressed with the vision and plans for the development of Lao Cai province, of the comrade himself and the leaders of Lao Cai province.

Lao Cai province has an important geostrategic position in the road transport route between Vietnam and Thailand. The organization of the program "Connecting Lao Cai - Thailand" this time is an opportunity to upgrade the cooperation relationship in logistics and international trade. These are favorable conditions for Thai enterprises to come to learn about investment and economic cooperation with Lao Cai in the coming time. At the same time, it is an opportunity to promote the image of Lao Cai province to Thailand and vice versa, Lao Cai province will know more about Thailand.

The Ambassador believes that with the long-standing economic and cultural ties between the two countries, Lao Cai will be an even more successful destination in the future. Especially after the recent visit of the Thai Princess to Lao Cai province, Thai people are even more interested and want to visit Lao Cai.

The "Three Connections" strategy between Vietnam and Thailand will contribute to economic connectivity and local businesses of the two countries.

The Ambassador thanked Lao Cai province for its attention, support and facilitation for Thai enterprises to invest and develop their business in the locality and believed that many Thai enterprises would not hesitate to choose to invest in a potential province like Lao Cai in the near future.

“The cooperation agreement between the Lao Cai Provincial Business Association and the Thai Business Association in Vietnam signed at the “Meet Thailand” Conference on August 29 will lead to comprehensive economic cooperation, enhancing trade and investment cooperation between Lao Cai and Thailand in the coming time,” the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam expected.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh thanked the Thai Embassy in Vietnam for coordinating with Lao Cai province to co-organize the program, aiming to bring Lao Cai closer to Thai partners and businesses to share, cooperate and together turn potentials, strengths and ideas into reality, helping Lao Cai develop rapidly, grow green and sustainably in the coming time.

Based on the common perception of the leaders of the two countries on strengthening the Vietnam - Thailand local cooperation, in recent years, Lao Cai province has had many opportunities to cooperate and exchange with Thailand. The Thai Embassy has always paid attention and made business trips to Lao Cai, creating connections between Thai partners and businesses with Lao Cai. In particular, within the framework of the visit and work in Vietnam at the invitation of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, on August 14, 2024, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand and the Royal Thai Delegation visited Lao Cai.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the Lao Cai - Thailand connection program will introduce and promote the province's potential, advantages, and investment attraction orientation to Thai investors, connecting businesses of Vietnam and Thailand.

“With the motto “businesses prosper, Lao Cai develops”, Lao Cai province always opens its doors to welcome investors, and at the same time commits to accompany, considers the success of enterprises as its own success, creates the most favorable conditions to turn investors’ ideas and the province’s development goals into reality. I believe that Thai investors will reap worthy benefits when investing and doing business in Lao Cai”, said Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh.

Delegates from both sides discussed issues of concern in cooperation and sought investment opportunities.

Within the framework of the program, delegates from Lao Cai province and Thailand discussed cooperation opportunities between companies and enterprises of the two sides in various fields; the strategic economic role, especially logistics of Lao Cai province; learning about key investment areas in Lao Cai province; promoting preferential policies for clean energy investors; preferential policies of the Thai Government for Vietnamese enterprises in general and Lao Cai province enterprises in Thailand in particular.

Lao Cai province's enterprises hope that in her position as ambassador, Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya will pay attention to supporting and promoting Thai enterprises to invest in Lao Cai and vice versa, supporting Lao Cai enterprises to cooperate with Thai enterprises in the coming time.

After 2 hours of active work, the Lao Cai - Thailand Connection program with the theme: Lao Cai - a successful destination in Lao Cai was a great success. The presence of nearly 100 delegates representing Thai and Vietnamese enterprises affirmed their interest and support for Lao Cai, which was an encouragement, motivation, and an important premise to open a new development journey connecting Lao Cai with Thailand.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh emphasized: In the coming time, to continue promoting the cooperative relationship between Lao Cai and Thai partners to become more in-depth, practical and have specific results and products, contributing to the implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand. Lao Cai province hopes that the business community of both sides can promote advantages, strengthen cooperation connections in all fields, especially tourism, trade, manufacturing industry, high-tech agriculture.

Through the Lao Cai - Thailand Connection Program, Lao Cai province affirms its determination to approach Thai investors and businesses in the most convenient and closest way, connecting quickly and effectively with Lao Cai businesses.
