A group calling themselves “fans of Flappy Bird” say they have acquired the rights to the game. The group claims the legendary game will return to Android and iOS phones in 2025.
However, unlike the previous limited operations on two mobile platforms, the Flappy Bird Foundation said that it plans to bring the game to other platforms, such as desktop and mobile web. This is also a difference from the original version, which will make the game able to attract more players.
In addition, the version will have many game modes, along with other characters for users to experience. In which, the chimney design and controllable birds are still the core.
Flappy Bird was released in May 2013 by developer Nguyen Ha Dong, becoming a phenomenon thanks to its combination of difficult gameplay and simple art style with pipes inspired by Mario games.
The Flappy Bird Foundation claims that the original game attracted over 100 million players, and that many “copycat versions” have also appeared. According to Nguyen Ha Dong, the game earned him $50,000 a day from advertising. However, Nguyen Ha Dong suddenly removed the game from the App Store and Google Play in February 2014.
