On November 17, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan had a meeting and worked with the delegation of Ambassadors of European Union (EU) member countries led by EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier.
At the reception, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan affirmed that on the basis of the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation between Vietnam and the EU, the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) as well as the good friendship between Vietnam and each European member country, the relationship between Vietnam and the EU is constantly being strengthened and consolidated.

According to comrade Vo Van Hoan, the EU is one of Vietnam’s leading economic partners and major development aid providers. With the EU’s professional, technical and financial support, many projects on urban transport, agriculture, climate change response, etc. have been implemented, making positive contributions to Vietnam’s development.
Comrade Vo Van Hoan thanked the support of European countries in particular and the EU in general for Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, in enhancing the ability to respond to climate change; notably the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) agreement with initial financial resources worth 15.5 billion USD to support Vietnam's green transition goals in the next 3-5 years.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan said that the EU is one of the important partners of Ho Chi Minh City. The EU business community in Ho Chi Minh City (EuroCham) has made many positive contributions to the economic development of the City, and committed that Ho Chi Minh City will continue to accompany businesses and EuroCham, organize meetings and dialogues to remove difficulties for EU businesses in the City. Ho Chi Minh City wishes to strengthen cooperation with European partners in the fields of green transformation, digital transformation, climate change adaptation, innovation, and startups.
EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier thanked the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for their warm welcome, and affirmed that the EVFTA, which took effect in August 2020, has contributed to creating more leverage and further promoting the EU-Vietnam cooperation relationship to become increasingly deeper and more effective.
Ambassador Julien Guerrier emphasized that Vietnam is one of the EU's main partners in Southeast Asia with the largest number of agreements; EU member countries will continue to invest and share development experiences with Ho Chi Minh City, and at the same time hope that Ho Chi Minh City will support and connect with European countries to achieve great strides in cooperation.
Also at the meeting, the ambassadors discussed with comrade Vo Van Hoan about urban management, e-government, building financial centers, wastewater treatment, flood prevention, investment in renewable energy, etc.
