Russia-Ukraine War on October 8, 2024: The US intends to 'Europeanize' the conflict; the possibility of dividing Ukraine is baseless Russia-Ukraine conflict: Global impact and unprecedented challenges |
The above comment is from Ms. Sahra Wagenknecht, founder and co-chair of the party “Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance – Reason and Justice” (BSW).
“ There is a good peace plan from Brazil and China. I would like Germany and the EU to support similar initiatives ,” Ms. Wagenknecht said in an interview with the Funke media group.

According to her, China can put pressure on Russia on the issue of conflict resolution and Germany “should do the same with Mr. Zelensky, so that both sides are forced to compromise.” “ There will be no peace without compromise ,” the German parliamentarian stressed.
At the same time, she noted, the conflict in Ukraine cannot be resolved by increasing arms supplies to Kiev.
“ We need more diplomatic efforts. That request is not wrong because the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is also making the same request ,” said Ms. Wagenknecht.
Mr. Zelensky stated the time to end the war.
President Zelensky visited Berlin and met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to discuss Ukraine’s “victory plan.” He said Ukraine wants to end the fighting by next year, 2025 at the latest.
In Berlin, the two leaders discussed the implementation of the Ukrainian-German security agreement for the coming year, the work being carried out by joint armored vehicle repair enterprises in Ukraine, and the implementation of joint weapons production.
The Ukrainian President's Office said that Mr. Zelensky also invited Prime Minister Scholz to consider financing the production of long-range vehicles in Ukraine.
“ It is important for us that the aid does not decrease next year. We want to end the hostilities no later than next year, in 2025, and ensure that Russia’s actions will not be repeated. This plan is a bridge to hold an effective peace summit ,” Zelensky said.
According to him, this plan does not replace Ukraine's peace initiative but strengthens the country's position in bringing peace closer.
“ We can do this through cooperation with all partners and we count on Germany's support ,” President Zelensky stressed.
The moment the French Caesar self-propelled gun exploded due to Russian fire
The Russian military recently announced that it used a UAV to attack a French-made Caesar self-propelled howitzer on the Ukrainian frontline.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the country's reconnaissance forces discovered the Caesar howitzer in a dense forest in Sumy, northeastern Ukraine and bordering Russia.
The Russian military then deployed the Inokhodets medium- and long-range attack UAV (MALE, Medium Altitude Long Endurance) to launch the Kh-BPLA laser-guided missile at the target.
Video released by the Russian military shows a huge explosion at the scene after the ammunition section of the French howitzer was hit by a stray fire. Several Ukrainian soldiers quickly fled the firing position after the incident.
Russia accuses Ukrainian forces of actively using Western-supplied artillery systems, including Caesar self-propelled howitzers, in their cross-border offensive into Russia's Kursk since early August.
Ukraine has not commented on the above information.
Inokhodets is a medium-altitude long-endurance UAV, or MALE UAV. This type of UAV was actively used by both Russia and Ukraine in the early stages of the conflict. However, their effectiveness has since declined as both sides have deployed heavy anti-aircraft weapons and early warning systems. Large UAVs can even be destroyed before they can attack their targets.
However, the mobile nature of the fighting in Kursk, as well as the lack of adequate defense by Ukrainian forces, allowed the MALE UAV to return to action and prove its effectiveness. According to Russian military estimates, up to 127 Ukrainian tanks, 95 armored personnel carriers, and nearly 800 other armored vehicles were destroyed in the fighting in Kursk.
The Inokhodets UAV made its first flight on October 10, 2016. In addition to guided anti-tank missiles, this UAV can be equipped with guided bombs KAB-20, KAB-50, glide bombs UPAB-50, free-fall bombs FAB-50.
Of course, these bombs are less powerful than the FAB-500 or FAB-1000 heavy bombs designed for bombers. But the mission of UAVs is to destroy targets with high precision, not to destroy large areas.
