On February 13, 50 Best, a UK-based food and beverage organization, announced its list of the 50 best restaurants in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in 2024. Dubai leads the way with 18 restaurants in the top 50. Amman, Jordan, Cairo, Egypt, and Tel Aviv, Israel, are in second place with five restaurants each. Marrakech, Morocco, and Beirut, Lebanon, are in third place with three restaurants each.
MENA began publishing in 2022, reflecting the region’s rapid restaurant growth. With a booming culinary scene of more than 13,000 eateries, Dubai has dominated the list. On the previous two occasions, the city had 15 of the top 50 restaurants, with four of them holding the top spot.
Orfali Bros Bistro, a two-year winner, was founded by brothers Mohammad, Wassim and Omar with a menu that celebrates Syrian culinary heritage with an international twist. It opened in 2021. William Drew, MENA's chief content officer, praised Orfali Bros Bistro for its "creativity, innovation and presentation, as well as its intimate service."
The 50 Best list was voted by 250 leading experts in the food and beverage industry in the region. Restaurants were selected from 14 cities based on many criteria such as great customer experience, delicious food, unique cooking style, and restaurants containing special things that cannot be found elsewhere.
