It can be said that Binh Thuan has made a remarkable breakthrough this year thanks to a number of favorable factors: It is the first time hosting the National Tourism Year 2023 "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence". Along with that, the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressways have been put into operation, significantly shortening the travel time of tourists when coming to Binh Thuan. Or like the typical image of "Blue Sea - White Sand - Golden Sun", the destination has strengths in resort - sports and entertainment on the sea, favorable weather for tourism activities, diverse cuisine ... also contributing to creating attraction for tourists.
On the other hand, this is also the year that the local tourism industry actively implemented promotion activities, including participating in the Travex Fair 2023 in Yogyakarta - Indonesia, participating in the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival, attending the Vietnam - France Cooperation Conference (in Hanoi) ... The province has mobilized resources to successfully organize many activities within the framework of the National Tourism Year 2023. For businesses operating in this field, they have seized and taken advantage of the opportunity to implement a tourism stimulus program suitable to the actual situation to attract a large number of visitors to visit, relax, and entertain ... Thanks to the vibrant tourism activities in the province, the whole province is expected to welcome 8.35 million visitors (an increase of approximately 46% compared to last year) and the estimated revenue is 22,300 billion VND (an increase of 63% compared to 2022).
The breakthrough transformation in the year of "favorable time and place" also sets the goal of sustainable development for Binh Thuan tourism in the long journey ahead. At the meeting to listen to the report on the socio-economic situation, national security and defense in 2023 and the direction and tasks for 2024 organized by the People's Committee recently, many opinions noted the outstanding "bright spot" of tourism in the economic picture of Binh Thuan. Thereby, it is also proposed that the target of welcoming visitors in 2024 will strive to reach 8.8 million visitors (an increase of more than 5% compared to 2023), while affirming that tourism is a solid pillar of Binh Thuan's economy...

With the recovery and development momentum of the "smokeless industry" in the post-Covid-19 pandemic period, the expectation of welcoming 8.8 million visitors in the new year 2024 is in line with the locality's orientation. According to Resolution 06 of the Provincial Party Committee (term XIV) on tourism development to 2025, with a vision to 2030, the goal of welcoming 8.9 million visitors in 2025 has been set... However, to achieve this target, the locality and the industry must make more efforts, because the attractiveness of the destination may gradually decrease because not many large-scale activities are selected to be organized in the province as when hosting the National Tourism Year 2023. Although the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressways still bring certain advantages to Binh Thuan tourism, they are only "necessary" conditions in competing to attract visitors. Due to the unstable world political situation and economic recession after the pandemic, recently, key and potential tourist markets such as Russia, Western Europe, etc. have not become active again, even during the peak season for international visitors.
After a favorable year and before a long journey, Binh Thuan tourism should proactively "renew" as well as seek solutions to continue to maintain the "hotness" of the destination, thereby moving towards sustainable development... Remembering the time he returned to work in the locality, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh - head of the General Department of Tourism (now the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism) said that hosting the National Tourism Year 2023 is a "golden" opportunity that Binh Thuan needs to grasp and take advantage of effectively. Because in fact, through the summary of assessments of localities that have had the honor of organizing this event, in addition to attracting a large number of tourists through activities in the hosting year, the spillover effect of the destination brand will contribute to the rapid and sustainable development of local tourism in the following years.
Therefore, in the coming time, in addition to promoting the image and brand, Binh Thuan tourism also needs to focus on improving quality and expanding connections, creating many new and high-class products and services. Continue to promote the advantages of the destination with many attractive types of tourism, especially sea - island tourism, MICE and Wellness tourism, exploring forests - waterfalls - lakes, recreational sports on the sea - sand dunes to attract strategic investors with capacity and experience to implement "highlight" projects according to the province's development plan.
