Xoan Singing and Phu Tho Folk Song Club of Hung Lo commune serves groups of visitors to experience at Hung Lo Communal House.

We visited the Xoan and Folk Song Club of Phu Tho, Hung Lo commune, just when the members were enthusiastically practicing their performances to serve groups of visitors to experience community tourism in the locality. In the bustling sound of drums and clappers, the club members practiced enthusiastically, immersing themselves in the simple yet affectionate lyrics, all creating attractive and captivating performances, no different from professional artists performing. The special thing here is that not only when performing on stage, these mass "artists" attract the audience, but even when practicing around, they still attract a large number of people in the commune to watch and encourage them. Engrossed in enjoying the ancient Xoan performances, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai - a resident of Hung Lo commune shared: “I am 78 years old this year but I really enjoy watching the art performances of the Xoan Singing and Phu Tho Folk Song Club of Hung Lo commune, because the performances are all carefully staged, the members perform with enthusiasm, helping the audience feel light and relaxed, creating a Xoan space that is both spiritual and secular... Thereby, creating an invisible thread connecting everyone in the commune. Therefore, every time the Club performs, I and everyone in the commune come to watch and cheer enthusiastically.”

The Xoan Singing and Folk Songs Club of Phu Tho Commune, Hung Lo Commune was established in 2013, initially with 15 members. After a period of active and effective operation, the Club has now attracted more than 31 members, aged 40-62, including 9 male members and the rest are female. In order for the Club to maintain its activities, members have voluntarily contributed funds and promoted socialization to buy props and costumes for performances. Ms. Truong Thi Van - Vice President of the Xoan Singing and Folk Songs Club of Phu Tho Commune, Hung Lo Commune said: Previously, Xoan Singing was at risk of fading away, the Xoan Singing and Folk Songs Club of Phu Tho Commune, Hung Lo Commune was formed, learning from Xoan Singing artisans in the ancient Xoan wards of Kim Duc and Phuong Lau communes, gradually creating a living space for Xoan Singing in Hung Lo. Currently, the Xoan Singing and Folk Songs Club of Phu Tho Commune in Hung Lo Commune is not only a playground, a place for cultural exchange, connecting village and neighborhood relationships, but also a basis for preserving and promoting traditional art forms, contributing to preserving the intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Realizing this, the members of the Club have actively taught the younger generation, students of local schools and their children. Although each person has a different job, all members try to arrange to practice well with ancient Xoan songs and traditional folk songs, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people in the commune.

In addition to practicing and performing regularly to serve the people on the occasions of celebrating the Party, celebrating Spring, and commemorating major national holidays, the Club also participates in festivals and performances at the commune level, especially serving performances for domestic and international delegations when visiting Hung Lo Communal House. On average, the Club serves over 50 delegations each year. The performances are all staged and performed by the Club members themselves with rich and diverse content and incorporate propaganda on the awareness of complying with the policies and laws of the Party and State; praising the Party, praising Uncle Ho; building a prosperous and happy life, especially the art form of Hat Xoan - an intangible cultural heritage of humanity...".

Comrade La Thi Hong Thuy - President of the Women's Union of Hung Lo commune said: The activities of the Club are maintained and organized periodically. Through songs, singing, and dancing, the non-professional actors not only create a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the local people but also leave impressions in the hearts of tourists from all over the world when they come to experience the reality in the ancient land of Hung Lo.... Thereby, finding new, enthusiastic, dynamic and talented cores to be the core force to develop the mass cultural and artistic movement at the grassroots level. This is a good condition for the people to participate in cultural and artistic activities regularly, creating attraction, contributing to promoting the emulation movement of labor production, tightening solidarity among the people.
