(QBĐT) - These days, the joy is doubled in the hearts of Laotian international students studying at universities and colleges in the province. Along with the excitement of waiting for the traditional Bunpimay New Year is the great news from the province's care and attention for the study journey of Laotian international students. Quang Binh has truly become a second homeland with all the warmth, love, and solidarity like the faithful love of the two peoples.
"Vietnam, Quang Binh in my heart"
That was one of the topics of the Vietnamese speaking contest organized by Quang Binh University (QU) on the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay New Year for Lao students. The two "promising" candidates are Vilaysane Dodo, a third-year student majoring in Business Administration, and Xayasouk Devansavanh, a first-year student majoring in Chinese Language. Before entering the major, they had a 1-year preparatory course in Vietnamese. With pronunciation that is no different from Vietnamese people, especially the accent imbued with Quang Binh accent, if not introduced beforehand, it would be difficult to recognize that these are Lao students.
Vilaysane Dodo and Xayasouk Devansavanh are 2 of over 1,200 LHS, including 422 major students and 783 LHS who are staff and students studying Vietnamese at the National University up to now. Enrolling and training Lao LHS since 2007, after 18 years, this school has become a beloved address for LHS and families of Lao ethnic groups. During those nearly two decades, although Quang Binh has had to go through many difficulties and challenges, the province has always cared, shared and opened its arms to Lao LHS.
Sharing the joys and sorrows, the Provincial People's Council has issued many resolutions to support living expenses, transportation costs, and initial subsidies to make the study journey of Lao students more favorable. Over the past 18 years, thousands of Lao students have successfully completed their studies and returned to contribute to building Laos to become stronger and stronger.
Like Laotian students at the National University, with Phoaumma Noy, a final year student of Pharmacy, and Soukpaserth Nitdanai, a second year student of Nursing, along with nearly 100 Lao students studying Nursing, Pharmacy, and Medical Assistant at intermediate and college levels at the Medical College, Quang Binh has become their second homeland, a solid foundation for them to be equipped with knowledge and grow up.
With the care and support of the Party, government, people, teachers, the time studying in Quang Binh has left many beautiful memories in the hearts of the students. "Although we do not celebrate the traditional New Year in the beautiful country of Laos, Bunpimay in Quang Binh is still full of flavor, very similar to the New Year I celebrate at home", Phoaumma Noy happily said.
New joy
Always imbued with the idea of "helping friends is also helping yourself", along with the sharing of hardships, standing side by side to overcome many difficulties and challenges, from 2007 to now, Quang Binh has helped Laos train nearly 1,400 LHS in majors and Vietnamese. The province has implemented many policies for LHS, such as: Supporting living expenses, transportation costs, initial subsidies... Quang Binh's heart has brought peace of mind and trust to Lao LHS, highlighting the close relationship between the people of Quang Binh and the provinces of Laos, strengthening the loyal and steadfast love between Vietnam and Laos.
Along with the development of Quang Binh, the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, and between Quang Binh and neighboring provinces are increasingly cared for and nurtured. In order for Lao students to fulfill their dream of studying in Quang Binh, in December 2024, at the 19th session, the 18th Provincial People's Council issued Resolution No. 82/2024/NQ-HDND stipulating the support regime for Lao students, effective from January 1, 2025.
Accordingly, the support level for Laotian students under cooperation agreements at universities and colleges under the management of the province is increased to 2.5 million VND/person/month for Laotian students; 3 million VND/person/month for Laotian officials, with a maximum payment of no more than 10 months/school year.
Soukpaserth Nitdanai, Champasak Province, a Nursing student at Quang Binh Medical College, was born into a family of 6 siblings, his parents are farmers. Although life is still very difficult, from December 2024 onwards, his parents have saved up and sent him an additional 2 million VND each month. Resolution No. 82 of the Quang Binh Provincial People's Council increasing the support level for Lao students from 1.2 million VND/month to 2.5 million VND/month has shared most of the burden for his family.
Not only Soukpaserth Nitdanai, Phoaumma Noy, Vilaysane Dodo and nearly 200 Lao students studying in Quang Binh are joyfully welcoming the new joy in 2025 and the traditional Bunpimay New Year. That joy has also spread in the hearts of teachers at universities and colleges in Quang Binh.
“The province’s attention not only helps to remove difficulties for the students and their families, but also makes it easier for us to organize activities to care for their spiritual lives, motivate them to study better, contribute to improving the quality of training, affirm the prestige of the province and enhance the solidarity and attachment between Quang Binh and the neighboring provinces of Laos as well as Vietnam-Laos”, said Dr. Phan Trong Tien, in charge of the Department of Science, Technology - Foreign Affairs and Learning Materials, National University.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Quang Binh National University and Quang Binh Medical College are urgently completing dormitories for Laotian students with a spacious and modern appearance. "It is expected that on the occasion of Bunpimay, Laotian students will be transferred to the new dormitory. With the support of Resolution No. 82, this is a great joy not only for the students but also for the school, and a favorable condition for us to do better in training human resources for Laos!", affirmed Phan Thi Thanh Tam, Vice Principal of Quang Binh Medical College.
Comrade Tran Hai Chau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council: In recent times, along with the policy of caring for and developing the education of the province's children, accompanying and supporting Lao students studying in the province is the content that the province has always focused on. Resolution No. 82 continues to affirm Quang Binh's interest in Lao students, gradually helping the country develop a high-quality human resource team. The province will continue to do better in supporting human resource training activities to help Laos, contributing to highlighting the solidarity and closeness between Quang Binh and the provinces of Laos in the region, joining hands with the whole country to complete the Project "Improving the quality and effectiveness of Vietnam-Laos cooperation in the field of education and human resource development for the period 2021-2030", nurturing the Vietnam-Laos relationship to be forever green and forever sustainable. |
