Fate with agarwood

In 2018, in Hang Doi village (Ninh Phu commune, Ninh Hoa), a girl who had just turned twenty had a predestined relationship with agarwood. It was a late afternoon, while meditating in a small corner on Hang Doi mountain, the natural agarwood (a gift she had been given) gave off its fragrance, Anh suddenly thought, she was in the land of agarwood, why not start a business from the product that heaven and earth had bestowed upon the land.

Thinking is doing, Ms. Anh chose to start a business from producing and trading agarwood. Through livestream sessions on social networking platforms, the number of followers gradually increased; the number of orders also increased steadily thanks to the quality of the products and her sincerity and simplicity. Up to now, the TikTok channel cothonnu79 (Country girl Ngoc Anh) has nearly 800,000 followers. Each livestream session on the channel attracts hundreds of thousands of likes. Through that, Ms. Ngoc Anh introduces agarwood products to domestic and foreign users, such as: Incense cones, incense sticks, agarwood bracelets, agarwood handicrafts... Not only selling products, Ms. Ngoc Anh also skillfully shares about the place she lives, about the beauty of her homeland, the culture and people of Khanh Hoa, about delicious dishes or unique customs of her homeland. Such videos attract hundreds of thousands of likes.

The scent of incense flies far and wide.

Over the years, Ms. Ngoc Anh has continuously learned and improved her knowledge about agarwood, bringing clean agarwood products under the brand name Co Thon Nu Ngoc Anh to consumers. Currently, Ms. Anh's family's factory is nearly ^2,000m2 wide, located at the foot of Hang Doi mountain, with a thorough investment from the planting area to modern cold-drying technology to help preserve the agarwood essential oil content in the product. The production process is strictly controlled by an advanced quality management system according to ISO 9001:2015 standards. Here, every day, 30 workers work at full capacity to deliver to domestic and foreign customers on time. Through the hands of skilled workers, each piece of Do Bau wood is stripped of all white sapwood, only selecting the parts with agarwood. Then, depending on the quality, that piece of agarwood is used to create items, jewelry or ground to create each agarwood incense stick.

The model of the village girl Ngoc Anh has created stable jobs for 30 local workers.

Ms. Ngoc Anh said that the agarwood products of Co Thon Nu Ngoc Anh are made completely naturally, without using chemicals or additives; the artisans of the facility are carefully recruited, love their job, have knowledge and experience with agarwood. She shared that whether it is agarwood sticks, agarwood incense or agarwood decorative art or jewelry, the most important thing is quality and reputation.

With the acumen, efforts of youth and the desire to contribute to preserving and promoting the Khanh Hoa agarwood brand, Ms. Anh has now opened a second facility in Nha Trang City. Ms. Anh shared: "We will build the Ngoc Anh agarwood production area into a place where people and tourists can fully experience the quintessence and beauty of the agarwood making profession. Thereby, contributing to preserving and promoting the value of Khanh Hoa agarwood as well as creating more stable jobs for local workers".

In 2024, the facility has 2 products of Nhat Tam Huong cone incense and Tue Lieu Minh tree incense achieving 4-star OCOP, the product Van May Tinh Tam Huong achieving 3-star OCOP. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh's household was commended by Ninh Hoa Town People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas".
