During the days of November, the National Great Unity Day is being held in various places throughout the province. Among them, Tinh My village, Phan Thanh commune (Bac Binh) is one of the locations chosen by the province to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2023) and respond to the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Unite to help each other develop the economy
We arrived at Tinh My village, Phan Thanh commune early in the morning of the 2023 National Unity Day. Located next to National Highway 1A, near the center of Bac Binh district, the village cultural house was filled with flags and flowers, along with bright smiles. It was the weekend, so the joyful and warm atmosphere of the festival was multiplied by the number of people gathering at the village cultural house.
Mr. Dong Thanh Vien - Head of Tinh My village shared: This is a village of purely Cham people following the Brahman and Bani religions. The total population of the village is 1,349 people/292 households and there are a few Kinh people living together. Of which, 30 households are rich, accounting for 10%; 79 households are well-off, accounting for 27%; 168 households are average, accounting for 27% and 14 households are near-poor, with no poor households. For Tinh My village, due to limited residential area and land, it is impossible to expand. The area of agricultural land and residential land is narrow, so most of the people in the village live on farming (main crops are dragon fruit and rice) and working for hire, without a side job. Accordingly, the natural land area of the village is only 125 hectares, of which 46 hectares produce 3 rice crops/year; 41 hectares grow dragon fruit seasonally and light off-season, yielding about 2,000 tons. However, the current price of dragon fruit is not stable, investment capital is poor, so productivity and output are not achieved, affecting the family economy.
From that difficulty, in order to produce land effectively, from the beginning of the season, people have plowed 100% of the area. At the same time, they fully prepared seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, carried out production on time, and protected and cared for crops according to the technical process according to the instructions of the Agricultural Extension Station. Mr. Uc Sinh Quan - a resident of Tinh My village shared: In 2023, the weather was favorable, with a lot of rain and abundant water for rice production. At this time, the greatest joy of the villagers in particular and the Cham people of Phan Thanh commune in general is the highest rice price ever (over 9,000 VND/kg), so almost every family has a good profit during the winter-spring rice harvest.
Changes in building cultural life
Besides helping each other develop the economy, according to Mr. Bui Van Thang - Head of the campaign "All people unite to build new countryside" (Movement for New Rural Development) in 2023 of Tinh My village, the campaign is increasingly meaningful and practical, entering people's lives.
The people have enthusiastically competed in all fronts of economic development, building cultural life, and maintaining security and order in the area. In addition to available capital and labor, the people also received support loans from the Agricultural Bank, the Policy Bank, and revolving loans from organizations to continue investing in production and living. From there, it contributed to stabilizing and improving people's lives. The obvious result is that the material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improving, the rural landscape is increasingly prosperous and progressing in many aspects, creating favorable conditions for launching movements in residential areas.
According to Mr. Thang, the campaign has created important changes in building a healthy and rich cultural and spiritual life in residential areas, preserving and promoting national cultural identity, taking care of education, health care, and implementing population and family planning well.
In 2023, information and propaganda will be carried out in various forms, creating conditions for people to promptly grasp the policies and laws of the Party and the State. In particular, the propaganda and mobilization to register cultural families has become an annual emulation movement, and is also an important criterion in evaluating the title of cultural family (GĐVH) for cadres, party members and people of all walks of life in the village. The whole village registered GĐVH 255/283 households, reaching 90%, the number of households achieving the title of GĐVH in 2023 was 249/255 households, reaching 96.86%, of which 229 households achieved 92% for 3 consecutive years.
In addition to the movement to compete for the title of Cultural Family, the Village Mobilization Committee also constantly strives to achieve the title of Cultural Village. Cultural, artistic and sports movements are maintained and organized to serve ethnic minorities on the occasion of holidays and Tet, all of which are organized in a joyful and healthy manner, continuing to promote the preservation of ethnic cultural identity. Funerals, weddings and death anniversaries are all organized by the Association in accordance with the conditions and circumstances of each family, limiting ostentation and demonstrating a civilized lifestyle. From there, it contributes to creating the strength of solidarity to build a new countryside of the Cham people in Phan Thanh commune in particular and Bac Binh in general, which is increasingly prosperous.
Promoting the achieved results and overcoming the remaining difficulties, Phan Thanh commune in general and Tinh My village in particular are continuing to mobilize people to change the crop structure to suit the land and crop conditions to reduce losses in the production process. Mobilizing people to coordinate with state agencies in concreting the remaining rural roads. Along with that, making efforts to preserve the national cultural identity, building a clean and beautiful village and hamlet landscape environment.
