Recognizing that building new rural areas is a long, arduous journey with no end point, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has been actively involved, unleashing internal resources and mobilizing the people's strength. In this process, many practical models and initiatives have emerged and spread widely.
Helping people reduce poverty sustainably.
To date, the New Rural Development (NRD) movement has spread to many rural areas in the province. The appearance of rural areas has changed positively. The material and spiritual lives of the people have continuously improved. The mentality of "each man for himself" is gone; officials and people in rural areas actively support each other to overcome difficulties, conquer poverty, and work together to build new rural areas. The spirit of "leaving no one behind" has been highly promoted.

To achieve these encouraging results, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has made concerted efforts. From the very beginning of the National Target Program for New Rural Development, Fatherland Front officials in the province recognized that building new rural areas is a long process with no end point. Compared to other localities nationwide, Quang Tri province faced many difficulties in building new rural areas. The impact of war consequences and natural disasters, including floods, were major obstacles to local socio-economic development. Therefore, helping people in rural areas achieve sustainable poverty reduction was essential. New rural development will only be successful when people have enough food and clothing.
Based on this profound understanding, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has focused its efforts on developing and implementing models to help people reduce poverty sustainably, linked with building new rural areas. Many of these models have quickly yielded encouraging results.
For example, with the support of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the cooperative model for purchasing, preserving, and processing seafood has effectively supported people in Gio Hai commune, Gio Linh district. Through this model, many households have escaped poverty. The average income of each worker in the cooperative reaches 3-4.5 million VND/month. This success is an impetus for the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province to build and replicate similar models.
Recently, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province supported the construction of 20 livelihood models for disadvantaged households with a total amount of 600 million VND. At the same time, it guided localities to support poor, near-poor, and newly-escaped-from-poverty households in building production and business development models.
In addition to providing support through model programs, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has done a good job of mobilizing, managing, and utilizing the "For the Poor" Fund, focusing on supporting livelihoods for people to develop their economy and achieve sustainable poverty reduction. From the beginning of the year to November 20, 2023, the "For the Poor" Fund mobilization committees at all levels in the province have raised a total of 47.718 billion VND.
Through this, the fund has supported the construction of 495 solidarity houses and the repair of 88 houses for poor households; supported production development for 106 families; assisted 999 poor students; donated more than 10,300 gifts... and many other forms of support. The work of mobilizing relief efforts due to natural disasters and risks has been promptly implemented by the Fatherland Front at all levels in coordination with the government and organizations, individuals, and philanthropists.
Many innovative models are flourishing.
To create more livable rural areas, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has focused its efforts on building and implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas". With high determination, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province proactively assigned the task of developing plans and implementing the campaign with the political tasks and emulation movements of localities and units.
The Fatherland Front at all levels in the province and its member organizations actively participated in disseminating information about the criteria for building new rural areas; mobilizing the people to contribute resources; implementing, guiding, and directly organizing and participating in gathering feedback on people's satisfaction with the results of building new rural areas.

In response to the campaign, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has implemented many specific models and activities. In Hai Lang district, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district directed communes and towns to launch many models such as: "Model New Rural Residential Area in 2023" in Phuoc Dien residential area, Hai Dinh commune; "Buddhist followers of Trung An Pagoda ensuring security and order, protecting the environment and responding to climate change" in Hai Khe commune; "Funerals without inviting a priest, only using loudspeakers and recorded music" in Da Nghi village, Thong Nhat hamlet, Hai Ba commune...
In Quang Tri town, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the town coordinated the organization of a competition to build green, clean, and environmentally friendly projects based on community participation in residential areas. In Vinh Linh district, the movement to jointly build new rural areas is maintained with many good practices, including the "Green, Clean, Beautiful, and Safe Village" competition.
In Huong Hoa district, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district organized the National Unity Day combined with launching the construction of 14 exemplary models in residential areas, effectively contributing to the implementation of the targets for building new rural areas.
Based on the criteria for building new rural areas and local realities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have developed ideas and implemented suitable models. In particular, criteria related to the environment, security and order, transportation, etc., have been emphasized by the Front at all levels.
With environmental criteria in mind, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province regularly mobilizes the people to use clean water and maintain environmental hygiene; build waste collection and treatment points, prevent encroachment on roads and sidewalks; maintain activities to keep villages and alleys clean, beautiful and well-maintained, and build civilized streets... The waste collection groups established in Dao Dau residential area, Trieu Trung commune, Trieu Phong district are one of the exemplary models.
In addition, many other models of the Fatherland Front at various levels in the province have also met the requirements of the practical implementation of building new rural areas in localities such as: mobilizing people to implement "Lighting up rural roads" in Cam Thanh commune (Cam Lo district), Vinh Thuy, Kim Thach (Vinh Linh district); donating land for road construction in Nhu Le village, Hai Le commune (Quang Tri town); mobilizing people to relocate graves in residential areas and in production land to planned areas in Hai Thuong, Hai Lam communes (Hai Lang district)...
Responding to the campaigns and emulation movements launched by the Fatherland Front at all levels, the member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province have also proactively and actively implemented projects and tasks extensively. The content of the campaigns has been concretized into movements within each member organization such as: the "Veterans helping each other reduce poverty and excel in economic activities" movement of the Provincial Veterans Association; the "Quang Tri Youth joining hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" movement of the Vietnam Youth Union of Quang Tri province; the "5 no's and 3 clean" model of the Provincial Women's Union; the movement of farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty of the Provincial Farmers Association...
According to Le Hong Son, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, in recent times, the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" has been actively propagated and implemented by the Fatherland Front and its member organizations at all levels through many good models and appropriate methods, linked to the implementation of programs and projects of the province and localities.
Through this campaign, the provincial Fatherland Front at all levels has successfully mobilized the strength of the entire political system and the people to build new rural areas. This effort has contributed to helping many rural areas in the province become increasingly prosperous and transformed.
