The Hoa Khanh Nam Ward Police had previously received a complaint from the homeowner at 56 Nguyen Khac Nhu about a rosewood tree planted in front of his house being cut down by a group of strangers without notice. According to the homeowner, the rosewood tree was purchased for 5 million VND and planted in 2015.

On the afternoon of November 27, the family was not informed about the tree being cut down. It was not until they returned from exercising that they discovered the tree had been cut down and reported it to the local police.
Through investigation, the Hoa Khanh Nam Ward Police determined that some workers of Phuoc Ly Xanh Company Limited were performing their duties under contract. These people arrived at the house number above and discovered that the trees were showing signs of drying and losing leaves, so they took pictures and sent them to the company director, who agreed to cut the trees and transport the trunks to Hoa Tien Commune (Hoa Vang District).
When the homeowner learned that the workers had not contacted the neighborhood association and had cut down the tree, on the afternoon of November 28, the company director contacted the homeowner to uproot the tree and plant a replacement.
At the ward police headquarters, the company found that sawing and cutting the tree in front of the above house number was not following the correct procedure.
The two parties agreed to a solution by having the company plant another tree to replace it and compensate the homeowner 12 million VND for cutting down the rosewood tree without prior notice.
