At the recent meeting to inspect the implementation of the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" (Campaign) in Can Tho City by the Central Steering Committee of the Campaign, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee of the Campaign, emphasized that the issues raised in the implementation of the Campaign today are the need for innovation, having policies and mechanisms in accordance with international law to stimulate domestic production and consumption. Can Tho City is the center of the Mekong Delta region, with many advantages to implement the Campaign but also many challenges. Therefore, it is necessary to further enhance the leadership and direction role of Party committees and leaders in implementing the Campaign...

City leaders visited the booth of Pham Nghia Food Joint Stock Company at the 2023 Trade Fair and OCOP products organized by the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City in coordination with other units.

Affirming the position of Vietnamese goods

Mr. Pham Trong Nghia, Director of Pham Nghia Food Joint Stock Company, said: Currently, more than 60% of Pham Nghia's products are exported to the US, Australia, Canada, and Sweden markets with 70 products from catfish and some types of seafood. However, Mr. Pham Trong Nghia affirmed that the domestic market is considered the foundation for the development of the enterprise. Currently, Pham Nghia's products are available in most regions, in large supermarkets such as Winmart, Aeon, LOTTE Mart... Even in the export market, most of the company's products serve people of Vietnamese origin.

The distribution system plays an intermediary role, an "information bridge" from the manufacturer to the customer and vice versa. As a purely Vietnamese brand, the Co.opmart supermarket system, since its early days of establishment, has recognized the historical mission of "being a bridge and a companion of Vietnamese goods with Vietnamese consumers", deciding to choose the path: Co.opmart is a supermarket that sells Vietnamese goods, a purely Vietnamese distributor. In particular, every year, Co.opmart implements the "Proud of Vietnamese Goods" Promotional Month program. The sales of the Co.opmart system during this period always achieved high growth. Ms. La Ngoc Truong, Director of Co.opmart Can Tho supermarket, said that Vietnamese goods at the supermarket reached over 90%, spanning most product lines with a variety of products from popular to high-end, increasingly receiving support from consumers.

Not only the Co.opmart supermarket system but also foreign supermarkets such as MM Mega Market, LOTTE Mart, GO!, Big C... also said that Vietnamese goods are always the priority criteria of enterprises in choosing to do business. In particular, the units always support local specialty products. The proportion of Vietnamese goods accounts for 80-90% on supermarket shelves.

According to the Steering Committee of the Campaign in Can Tho City, in 2022 and the first 6 months of 2023, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, member organizations, departments, branches and members of the Steering Committee of the Campaign at all levels of the city organized 13,557 propaganda sessions, with 339,866 participants; posted more than 1,600 news and articles on the websites of agencies, organizations, and newspapers about the Campaign... The City People's Committee has issued plans, decisions, and programs to stabilize and develop the market associated with the Campaign... Support for businesses and cooperatives through trade promotion activities, application of e-commerce in production, business and distribution has also been actively implemented.

According to Plan No. 710/KH-MTTW-BCDTWCVĐ on the implementation of the 2023 campaign of the Central Steering Committee of the Campaign, the Campaign will focus on the following key points: Continuing to thoroughly grasp and widely disseminate Directive No. 03-CT/TW dated May 19, 2021 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over the Campaign in the new situation. Continuing to promote the implementation of the Campaign in the direction of innovation and technological innovation; having policies and mechanisms in accordance with international law to stimulate domestic production and consumption. Continuing to innovate propaganda forms so that businesses correctly understand and enhance their responsibility for implementing regional and international trade agreements that Vietnam participates in, enhancing the competitiveness of goods and products of Vietnamese enterprises with imported goods. Review policies to support enterprises, production and business establishments to propose amendments, supplements and improvements to policies and laws, creating a favorable legal corridor to support Vietnamese enterprises, first of all small and medium enterprises, digital technology enterprises to participate in the production chain of high-quality goods and services; develop enterprises and promote start-ups and innovation; issue specific policies suitable to local conditions, creating a production and business environment. Organize voting for quality products, products loved by consumers, Vietnamese enterprises applying new technologies in production, business and distribution. Enhance the responsibility of agencies and organizations in protecting consumer rights...

Can Tho City is shifting its economic structure, restructuring each industry and field, supporting the maintenance and promotion of production and business, stabilizing social psychology; strengthening market inspection and supervision; effectively implementing the market stabilization program, ensuring supply and demand of essential goods, contributing to price stability and preventing price fever and sudden price increases in the city. Strengthening administrative reform, creating a transparent and open business environment, simplifying administrative procedures, public services of business registration via the electronic network with the level 4 online public service model are effectively deployed, saving costs and time for businesses, creating favorable conditions for businesses to enter the market. Support for businesses and cooperatives through trade promotion activities, applying e-commerce to production, business and distribution is also being implemented. Support OCOP entities and local goods manufacturing enterprises that are having difficulty finding outlets to connect with goods distribution enterprises. At the same time, strengthen market inspection and control, detect and strictly handle violations in trading smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, goods of unknown origin, goods that do not ensure food safety and hygiene, and protect consumer rights.

Mr. Pham Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council, Head of the Steering Committee of the Can Tho City Campaign, affirmed: The implementation of the Campaign is identified by Can Tho City as an important political task, thereby contributing to promoting the city's socio-economic development. In recent times, the city has focused on doing a good job of propaganda and mobilizing organizations, individuals, units, and people of all walks of life to actively respond to the Campaign. At the same time, it has increased support and created conditions for city enterprises to boost production and business, develop stably, build and protect product brands, distribute and consume Vietnamese goods, etc.
