The theme of this year's Blood Donation Festival is "VietinBank - Giving blood, sharing life" on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (1988-2023). The festival was held at 20 locations nationwide, with the participation of 150 units and branches under VietinBank, attracting more than 5,000 participants.
Mr. Tran Kien Cuong - Standing Deputy Secretary of VietinBank Party Committee spoke at the Voluntary Blood Donation Festival.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Tran Kien Cuong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of VietinBank shared: " The blood donation festival "VietinBank - Giving blood, sharing life" is a very meaningful program, contributing to marking the 35th anniversary of VietinBank even more impressively and deeply; at the same time, demonstrating the culture and human values of VietinBank, which carry empathy and dedication, always upholding and promoting the fine tradition of "mutual love" of the Vietnamese people ".
The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Vietinbank Party Committee called on each cadre, party member, union member, youth and employee of VietinBank to become an "Ambassador of Kindness", spreading the love and responsibility of VietinBank towards the community.
VietinBank Youth Union received a Certificate of Merit from the Central Enterprises Bloc Youth Union for its outstanding achievements in the blood donation movement in the period 2020-2023.
Recognizing the achievements and contributions of VietinBank Youth Union in the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement in general and in the humanitarian blood donation movement in particular, Ms. Hoang Thi Minh Thu - Member of the Party Committee of the Block, Member of the Central Youth Union Standing Committee, Secretary of the Central Enterprises Youth Union praised the sense of responsibility, innovation and creativity of the Executive Committee of VietinBank Youth Union in organizing the Voluntary Blood Donation Festival in the whole system, thereby contributing to promoting propaganda and mobilizing the Youth Union cadres, members, youth and employees of VietinBank to participate in the humanitarian blood donation movement, sharing drops of blood with those who have encountered unfortunate events in life.

At the program, the Standing Committee of the Central Enterprises Youth Union decided to award Certificates of Merit to the VietinBank Youth Union and 2 individuals of the VietinBank Youth Union with outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement in the period 2020 - 2023.
Leaders, cadres, union members, youth and workers in the entire system participated in voluntary blood donation at the connecting points.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, cadres, union members, youth, workers and their families at 20 locations across the country participated in health check-ups and blood donation at the program.
At the end of the festival, nearly 3,000 units of blood were donated to hospitals. This amount of blood was transferred to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and hospitals in provinces/cities to supplement the blood bank which is in shortage, thereby promptly treating patients who need blood for treatment.
Blood is a special medicine that no other product can replace. According to statistics from the World Health Organization, each year, Vietnam needs about 2 million units of blood for the treatment of injuries, accidents, surgeries and for people with diseases that require blood transfusions.
Every 2 seconds, there is a need for blood transfusion and on average 1 in 7 people entering the hospital needs blood. However, we are currently only meeting 70% of this need, the blood reserves of medical centers and hospitals are not enough to supply when the need for blood transfusion increases, especially during the summer, holidays and Tet.
The VietinBank Youth Union's humanitarian blood donation program is still taking place in many provinces/cities across the country in June and July 2023, aiming for over 3,500 units of blood.
