Egypt is a key market for national companies in the Middle East and North Africa region. Egypt's economy depends primarily on agriculture, brokerage, oil exports, and tourism. Egypt has a GDP per capita of $5,800, ranking 133rd in the world. The Egyptian government has accelerated economic growth in the new millennium through economic reforms and investment in telecommunications and infrastructure. Economic conditions are beginning to improve significantly after a period of stagnation due to the liberalization of government economic policies, increased tourism revenues, and a booming stock market. Egypt has had a thriving media and arts industry since the late 19th century.
Vietnam is an important partner of Egypt in the region; the two sides still have much room and potential for cooperation, especially in the fields of economics, investment, and people-to-people exchange. With Egypt having signed Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with MERCOSUR, Arab, African..., Vietnamese enterprises can take advantage of these FTAs to increase the export of goods to serve the 2 billion people in the above markets.
As both developing countries, Vietnam and Egypt have a lot of room for cooperation, both bilaterally and multilaterally. Vietnam and Egypt are both large markets with more than 100 million people, have important geostrategic positions on the world map and can support each other to penetrate larger regional markets. With the advantage of being a member of many free trade agreements (FTAs) at the regional level, Vietnam can be a bridge for Egyptian goods and services. Conversely, with a prime location at the intersection of three continents: Asia, Europe and Africa, and being a member of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), Egypt can support Vietnamese goods and services to access these large markets effectively.
