Investigating the theft worth more than 1.3 billion VND at a pawn shop

On May 20, Lien Chieu District Police said they were urgently investigating a theft of valuable property at a pawn shop. The stolen property was worth more than 1.3 billion VND.

Previously, on the morning of May 18, Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong (27 years old, residing in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District) went to his pawn shop at 62 Nguyen Luong Bang Street (Hoa Khanh Bac Ward) and discovered that the pawn shop had been broken into by "thieves" and almost all of his valuable assets had been stolen.

According to Mr. Cuong, on the night of May 17, he carefully locked the pawn shop and left. There was no one to guard the shop at night.

Upon inspection, the pawn shop owner declared the lost assets to include 80 mobile phones of various types, 20 taels of gold, 1 diamond ring and 80 million VND in cash. According to estimates, the total value of the assets is approximately 1.3 billion VND.

Upon receiving the report, Lien Chieu District Police directed the Criminal Police Team to take the lead, coordinate with professional units of Da Nang City Police, and local police to investigate and prosecute the suspect.

Arrest suspect of breaking into warehouse to steal property

Previously, in the early morning of May 14, the warehouse of goods and construction equipment of Mr. Bui Phuc Thu (50 years old, residing in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward) on Ton Duc Thang Street (Hoa Khanh Bac Ward) was also broken into.

Hoang Xuan Binh and pliers break the lock

Hoa Khanh Bac Ward Police coordinated with Lien Chieu District Police to investigate and on the morning of May 14, arrested Hoang Xuan Binh (24 years old, residing in Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province) while he was carrying stolen property to sell.

Binh confessed that he had been investigating and monitoring the warehouse for many days before, and discovered that there was no one guarding the warehouse at night, so from 2 to 5 a.m. on May 14, Binh used pliers to cut two locks.

Binh broke into the warehouse, stole 1 pump, 15 support beams, 22 corrugated iron sheets, total property value was 18.5 million VND.
