The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the cold air mass is moving south and will affect the Northeast, North Central and some places in the Northwest from the afternoon and night of March 28. After that, the cold air will continue to expand its influence to other areas in the Northwest and some places in the Central Central.
The cold air rushes in, causing the temperature to drop rapidly, and the weather turns cold and rainy. If on March 27-28, the North will have strong sunshine with the highest temperature ranging from 27-30°C, with some places experiencing heat waves above 35°C, then from tomorrow night, the highest temperature in many places will suddenly drop by about 10°C. From March 29, Nghe An to Hue will also end the widespread heat wave, with temperatures dropping sharply.
The weather in the North and North Central regions is getting colder, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold. During this cold spell, the temperature in the North will generally be 15-18°C, in the highlands below 13°C, and in the North Central region 17-19°C. In Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces, the temperature may drop to as low as 11-13°C.
In Hanoi, the temperature also dropped rapidly from the night of March 28. It is forecasted that the lowest temperature during this period could drop to 16-18°C, making it cold, especially at night and early morning.
Due to the impact of cold air, from the night of March 28, the mountainous areas of the North and North Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places. During thunderstorms, extreme weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind may occur.
At sea, from the afternoon of March 28, the wind in the Gulf of Tonkin will shift to the northeast at level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas, and waves 2-3m high. The sea area north of the North East Sea will have strong northeast winds at level 6-7, gusting to level 8, rough seas, and waves 3-5m high.
The meteorological agency recommends that people keep warm, protect crops and livestock, and limit going to sea when there is a strong wind warning.
