On the morning of March 27, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a program to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Sports Industry (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2025); meeting to honor outstanding athletes and coaches in 2025.
Attending the event were comrades: Quan Minh Cuong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Be Thanh Tinh, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Ha Nhat Le, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Trinh Truong Huy, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial departments, branches, sectors and mass organizations.
At the program, delegates reviewed the glorious tradition of the sports sector in the country in general and the province in particular. On March 27, 1946, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 38 establishing the Youth and Sports Department under the Ministry of National Education, marking the birth of the Vietnamese sports sector. 34 years ago, on January 29, 1991, the Council of Ministers issued Decision No. 25/CT on taking March 27 every year as Vietnam Sports Day. Over the past 79 years, sports have become an indispensable part of the country's cultural and social life, contributing to improving health, spirit and creating national solidarity, serving the task of building and defending the Fatherland.
Over the past 79 years, along with the growth of the national sports and physical training cause, the Cao Bang sports and physical training sector has made many positive contributions to the cause of national construction and defense, contributing to the successful implementation of the province's socio-economic development tasks. All levels and sectors have effectively implemented the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho"; the mass sports and physical training movement continues to be developed deeply from the province to the grassroots. Up to now, the rate of people regularly practicing sports has reached 30.5%, the number of sports families has reached 20.5%.
Along with mass sports, the training of talented students in sports to supplement the province's high-performance athletes and provide athletes for the national team is of particular interest. Currently, the Sports and Arts Training and Competition Center is training 305 athletes and students, including 245 high-performance athletes from provincial teams, youth teams, and provincial talent teams, and 60 talented students in the arts in the following sports: athletics, badminton, basketball, table tennis, karate, pencak silat, jujitsu, kick boxing, boxing, chess, sports dance, tennis. In 2024, the province's athlete delegations participating in national and international competitions will win 258 medals of all kinds. There are 37 athletes reaching the national level (12 grandmasters, 14 level I athletes, and 11 level II athletes). Notable athletes include athlete Phung Mui Nhin who won 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal at the Asian JuJitsu Youth Championship and Championship in the UAE; athlete Nong Hai Van won a gold medal at the World Youth Championship in Pencat Silat and a gold medal at the 13th Southeast Asian School Games in 2024; athlete Ly Mui Sau and athlete Trieu Thi Binh won silver and bronze medals in athletics at the 13th Southeast Asian School Games in 2024; in March 2025, the province's athlete delegation attending the 2025 Asian JuJitsu Youth Championship excellently won 13 medals of all kinds; 6 athletes were awarded the title of National Master.
The province has successfully hosted a number of national high-performance sports tournaments such as: National Table Tennis Tournament for Excellent Rackets; National Pencak Silat Club Championship; National Sports Dance Championship and National Sports Dance Cup; National Youth Jujitsu Championship...
At the program, the Provincial Party Secretary commended, acknowledged and highly appreciated the strong progress of the provincial sports sector in recent years, especially the high achievements in national, regional and world sports arenas. He affirmed that outstanding athletes and coaches with high achievements are shining examples, typical advanced models of will, determination and health training to expand and launch the sports movement in the province. He emphasized: Sports are not only health training activities but also a bridge to connect people, spread the spirit of solidarity and development. It is necessary to continue to promote sports movements, the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" widely among all classes of people . He requested that all levels and sectors pay attention to promoting propaganda, dissemination, thorough understanding, serious and effective implementation of the Party and State's policies and guidelines on sports; Contents and tasks according to Conclusion No. 70-KL/TW dated January 31, 2024 of the Politburo on sports development in the new period, in accordance with the practical conditions of the province.
The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continues to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of state management of sports development, coordinate to promote mass sports, mobilize social resources to participate in cultural and sports development, to improve the physical and mental health of all classes of people, towards building a healthy and dynamic society . Continue to improve the quality and efficiency of training, coaching and high-performance sports competitions, develop key sports in a professional direction suitable to the socio-economic conditions of the province, gradually meeting the development requirements in the new period. In particular, focus on physical education, talent development closely linked with personality education and knowledge and cultural education for athletes.
I hope that the coaches and athletes will continue to promote their achievements, strive to overcome difficulties in training and competition, gain more achievements in domestic and international competitions, and make worthy contributions to the development of high-performance sports in the province and the country.
On this occasion, 3 athletes received Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training; 17 pairs of athletes and 67 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee; 1 athlete received a Certificate of Merit from the Provincial Youth Union.
