In contrast to St. Petersburg, the capital Moscow is at the bottom of the list of Top 10 favorite destinations in Summer 2023 for Russians.

A recent survey of more than 5,000 Russians conducted by the Sutochno.ru booking service showed that St. Petersburg has become the top Russian city for tourists. 20% of Russians surveyed chose the northern Russian city as their summer vacation destination.
Next in line is the coastal city of Sochi. 17% of respondents “voted” for this southern Russian city. In third place is the isolated city of Kaliningrad. This city received 15% of the votes.
The list of Top 10 cities that are favorite destinations this summer in Russia also includes Kislovodsk, Derbent, Kazan, Zelenogradsk, Sevastopol, Nizhny Novgorod and finally the capital Moscow with 4% of respondents.
The average daily room rate in St. Petersburg this summer is just over 4,000 rubles ($48), higher than in Moscow.
