To celebrate the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2024) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024), from the beginning of August, in the inner city, the city center and main roads, visual propaganda and agitation work was carried out in many diverse and rich forms according to the content and models of approved propaganda paintings. In particular, focusing on decoration in central areas, main roads, headquarters of offices, agencies, businesses, schools, public cultural sites, and crowded places. Local radio stations increased news articles and broadcasting time before, during and after the Anniversary to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere among the people.
Cultural activities
In August, according to the report of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, historical relics in the city were organized to welcome agencies, organizations and people to offer incense and visit every day of the week with 117.5 thousand visitors, reaching 6.5 billion VND in fee revenue. In the first 8 months of 2024, the relics welcomed nearly 2.2 million visitors, with a fee revenue of 120 billion VND, exceeding 65% of the annual estimate.
Also in the month, art units organized performances to serve political and foreign affairs tasks and serve a large number of people with 202 performances (40 political performances and 162 revenue performances) reaching 5.4 billion VND. In the first 8 months of 2024, the city's art units organized 1,529 performances (235 performances serving political and foreign affairs tasks; 1,294 revenue performances), reaching 59% of the yearly plan; attracting 553.4 thousand audiences, completing 74.3% of the plan; revenue of 37.2 billion VND, reaching 76.9%.
Sports activities
In August, Hanoi sent delegations of coaches and athletes to train and compete in domestic and international tournaments, and coordinated to organize professional competitions as planned. High-performance sports in the month achieved 428 domestic medals (173 Gold medals, 120 Silver medals, 135 Bronze medals), bringing the total number of medals of Hanoi in the first 8 months of 2024 to 1,987 medals of all kinds, including: 80 medals at international tournaments (14 Gold medals, 32 Silver medals, 34 Bronze medals) and 1,907 domestic medals (727 Gold medals, 568 Silver medals, 612 Bronze medals).
