Tourists increase spending by 40% thanks to golf

On the afternoon of March 31, in Da Nang City, the Da Nang Department of Tourism held a press conference to provide information about the Asian golf tourism program taking place in the city from now until April 5.

The 2nd Asian Golf Tourism Congress 2025 in Da Nang City took place from March 30 to April 5 at Sheraton Grand Danang Resort & Convention Center (Truong Sa Street, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang City), attracting nearly 500 delegates, including 350 international delegates from more than 35 countries and territories that are official members of IAGTO.

According to statistics from the Central Golf Course Alliance, in 2024, the total number of golf rounds played at Central courses increased by 13.8% compared to 2023; it is expected that in 2025, it will reach 410,000 golf rounds, continuing to increase by more than 10% compared to 2024.

Mr. Peter Walton, President of the World Golf Tourism Association, said that golf tourism helps increase spending by 20 - 40%, increase the length of stay of tourists, take advantage of the low season, increase service capacity...

"Da Nang is the only city to be chosen twice to host the Asian Golf Tourism Convention. Because of the nature of organizing large-scale golf programs, we need professional logistics, which Da Nang's current capacity has fully met, along with aviation infrastructure and tourist accommodation facilities," said Mr. Peter Walton.

The 2025 Asian Golf Tourism Congress is an annual event, gathering golf experts, travel agencies, golf course operators, and golf suppliers, organized by the International Golf Tourism Organization (IAGTO) in rotation in major cities in Asia.
