De Gea could reunite with Ronaldo at Al Nassr

David de Gea is a target of Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr after his contract with Man Utd expired and he is currently a free agent.

According to British newspaper Sunsport , De Gea has received an offer with a weekly salary of 315,000 USD to reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr. The two played together for Man Utd in the 2021-2022 season and the first half of the 2022-2023 season.

In early June, De Gea accepted a deep pay cut from $475,000 to $255,000 per week to renew his contract with Man Utd. But on June 27, the Old Trafford club surprisingly offered a lower salary instead. The Spanish goalkeeper has not agreed and has become a free agent since July 1. Man Utd is now asking the 32-year-old goalkeeper not to rush to join another club.

Sunsport said De Gea still wants to stay with Man Utd even though he may not be the first choice from next season. The "Red Devils" are also willing to keep De Gea, because they will have to recruit two new goalkeepers with a limited budget if they let him leave for free.

De Gea joined Man Utd from Atletico in 2011 and is now the longest-serving player at Old Trafford. He has won the Golden Glove twice, going 18 games without conceding a goal in the Premier League in 2017-18 and keeping 17 clean sheets last season. The Spanish goalkeeper is a holdover from former manager Alex Ferguson and has hinted at the possibility of retiring from Man Utd.

According to statistics on the Premier League homepage, De Gea played 412 matches with 146 clean sheets, won 222 and lost 91 matches. The Spanish goalkeeper saved 1,147 times, blocked four penalties, punched the ball 136 times, came out of the box to clear the ball 113 times, conceded 444 times, made 17 errors leading to goals and scored an own goal once. He received six yellow cards, passed a total of 9,286 passes, an average of 22.54 passes per match and kicked the ball accurately 2,316 times.

Andre Onana is said to be Man Utd's top target. On June 30, Inter Milan's sporting director, Beppe Marotta, confirmed that Man Utd are interested in the Cameroon goalkeeper but have not yet submitted an official offer. The Giuseppe Meazza owner wants to offer 55 million USD plus 12 million USD in additional fees with easy-to-activate clauses.

According to the British newspaper Mirror , Man Utd do not want to spend such a large amount of money and are starting to consider other options. These include 25-year-old goalkeeper Justin Bijlow of Feyenoord and 32-year-old goalkeeper Kevin Trapp of Eintracht Frankfurt.

If Man Utd withdraw, Chelsea could return to the race for Onana, after selling Edouard Mendy to Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League. In the opposite direction, "The Blues" are ready to push striker Romelu Lukaku to Inter.
