On June 29, 2023, Mr. Nguyen Hong Son (junior prosecutor of Hong Linh Town People's Procuracy) reported the case of Phan Cong Hien (born in 1989, residing in Thanh Binh Thinh commune, Duc Tho district) committing the crime of "Robbery" using the mind map method.

By using iMindmap 10 software combined with digitizing records, presenting documents, and evidence images, prosecutors have helped unit leaders easily grasp the entire content of the case to have direction for resolution.

Each content reflected on the diagram is attached with images, digitized document files, and specific suggestions are given. After listening to the case report and observing the mind map, everyone commented that the assessment of evidence through this form is very complete and easy to understand," Mr. Son shared.

Previously, on June 1, 2023, prosecutor Tran Van Hai (Loc Ha District People's Procuracy) used a mind map to report his views on resolving the case of Tran Dinh Cuong (born in 1984, residing in Thach Kim commune, Loc Ha) for the crime of "Theft of property".

Mr. Hai said: “Based on the instructions of the Supreme People's Procuracy, I have researched and applied Xmind software to build a tree-shaped mind map. To systematize the case with a diagram, the prosecutor must carefully study the files and documents to present the entire content clearly and easily. In addition, the process of evaluating the evidence fully and vividly also creates high persuasiveness for the audience and supports the prosecutor in clarifying the proposed approach to solving the case.”

Ky Anh District People's Procuracy organized a case report using mind maps in early June 2023.

The purpose of building a mind map is to enhance the application of IT in the practice of prosecution and supervision in resolving criminal cases, improve the quality of case reports and approve case resolution policies to ensure the requirements of innovation and enhance prosecution activities.

According to the assessment of officers, prosecutors, and inspectors, reporting cases using mind maps is a new method but complete, concise, and easy to understand. However, to build a case diagram that ensures quality, science, and efficiency, each officer and prosecutor assigned to handle the case must carefully study the content and related issues, and have a firm grasp of the evidence system and documents in the file.

Mind maps help prosecutors easily cite and use evidence and documents when studying case files, easily detecting shortcomings in the process of practicing the right to prosecute and supervise trials at court.

In addition to increasing accessibility for followers, reporting cases using mind maps is also an effective storage method.

If according to the old method, when needing to find information and data of a case, the prosecutor had to search each page of the records, taking a lot of time and making it difficult to be proactive in analyzing and evaluating the case, now with just a few simple steps, all the information and data needed will be displayed.

On December 2, 2022, the Supreme People's Procuracy issued Directive No. 01-CT/VKSTC on the work of the People's Procuracy in 2023. In particular, this year is identified as a breakthrough year in the application of information technology and digital transformation.

In Ha Tinh, starting from May 2023 until now, through the training and pilot process, the application of mind maps in case reports has been implemented by the People's Procuracy at two levels. After only nearly 2 months, the professional departments of the Provincial People's Procuracy and 13/13 units of the District People's Procuracy have built mind maps and case reports in images.

Director of the Provincial People's Procuracy Le Thi Quynh Hoa said: "The construction of mind maps is a higher step in the process of digitizing case files, aiming to realize the current goal of judicial reform. In the coming time, the two-level People's Procuracy of Ha Tinh province will continue to promote the construction of case reports using mind maps to improve the quality of the practice of the right to prosecute, supervise and try criminal cases, contributing to the successful completion of the task of applying information technology and digital transformation in the people's procuracy sector".
