Information from the Tax Department of Region XI, in Ky Anh Town (Ha Tinh), there appeared a subject impersonating the Tax Department of Region XI to defraud taxpayers.
Specifically, on March 21, 2025, H&M General Trading and Service Company Limited (located in Ky Anh Town) received an invitation to update and declare information on tax reduction and value-added tax refund policies according to Resolution No. 174/2024/QH15 dated December 30, 2024 of the National Assembly. Notably, the invitation requires businesses to declare information on the electronic tax website (eTax Mobile) before going to the tax authority to receive electronic records.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - Director of H&M General Trading and Service Company Limited said: "When I received the invitation with the signature and seal of the Tax Department of Region XI, I contacted the phone number on the invitation. The person on the other end of the line claimed to be a tax officer and asked me to add him as a friend on Zalo to support me in declaring information on the electronic tax website. However, I had read warnings about fake tax agencies, so I directly called the tax officer in charge of the area to verify and was informed that there was no such invitation. If I had not verified the information, I would have fallen into the trap of the scammers."

Immediately after receiving information from the enterprise, the Tax Department of Region XI conducted an inspection and verification of the information on the document, phone number and email in the invitation. The Tax Department of Region XI confirmed that the unit did not issue the above invitation and this was an act of impersonating the tax authority to commit fraud.
Mr. Le Van Dat - Deputy Head of the Ky Anh Inter-District Tax Team shared: "After receiving the case, we instructed the business not to provide personal information, not to add friends on Zalo or transfer money as requested by the scammer. In addition, the unit also sent documents to the police, local authorities and agencies, and taxpayers to widely warn the area."
The act of subjects impersonating tax officials sending invitations to businesses and business households to lure their prey into a scam has happened in Ky Anh town. Specifically, on August 19, 2024, the pharmacy business establishment No. 91 of Ms. Hoang Thi Hong Tham (Ky Bac commune, Ky Anh district) received an invitation impersonating the Ky Anh District Tax Department (the previous name of the organizational structure - PV) to update and declare information on regulations on value-added tax reduction policy according to Resolution No. 110/2023/QH15 and personal income tax refund policy. Upon receiving information from taxpayers, the Ky Anh District Tax Department promptly provided information and propaganda to prevent the scam.
Mr. Chu Tat Dac - Head of the Ky Anh Inter-District Tax Team said: "Taking advantage of the tax sector's implementation of electronic tax services, scammers have used many methods to appropriate taxpayers' information and assets. Therefore, on social networking platforms, we regularly provide information to promptly propagate to businesses and taxpayers; instruct taxpayers when receiving invitations and calls like the above to contact the tax authority directly through the official channel for support, avoiding being taken advantage of by scammers".

Currently, all information related to current taxpayers is published by the Tax Department of Region XI on the official website: https://hatinh.gdt.gov.vn/wps/portal and on the unit's facebook and zalo fanpage.
Therefore, the Tax Department of Region XI recommends and warns taxpayers in Ky Anh Town in particular and taxpayers in the three provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri in general that when receiving information from other channels, they need to check and verify through the tax authority to avoid being scammed and having their assets appropriated.
