Phan Thiet airport project is invested in dual-use, serving both military, national security and civil exploitation. The airport is planned as a level 4E airport with a 3,050 m long runway. The passenger terminal has a designed capacity of 2 million passengers/year. The project is implementing construction items, expected to be completed in 2024.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hien - Deputy Director of the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, said: In order for Phan Thiet airport to complete its items, the Provincial People's Council has passed a Resolution approving the investment policy for phase 2 of the road to Phan Thiet airport. The project will asphalt the traffic route starting at the intersection with Vo Nguyen Giap Street at Km7+700. The end point is the gate of the civil aviation area in Thien Nghiep Commune, Phan Thiet City. The route is about 3.63 km long, the roadbed width is 36 m, the road surface width is 13.5 m, the median strip width is 12.5 m, the sidewalk width on each side is 5.0 m. The road surface structure is asphalt concrete on a crushed stone aggregate layer, the sidewalk structure is paved with bricks.

In addition, the project also builds drainage systems, trees, lighting, ensures traffic safety and related auxiliary items. The project belongs to group B. 4 with a total investment of about 117,883 billion VND. Investment capital from the provincial budget (provincial budget reserve capital in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021 - 2025 and transition to the period 2026 - 2030. The project implementation period is 4 years. The project implementation progress is from 2023 to 2025 and transition to the period 2026 - 2030. Previously, the road to the airport (phase 1), approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 3159, was constructed and accepted with a route length of 3,632m, road surface width of 13.5m, roadbed of 36m, embankment structure of 30cm thick.
