Lukaku has just finished a one-year loan contract with Inter Milan from Chelsea. But because he is not in the plans of coach Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea's management team wants to sell the Belgian striker this summer.

At Chelsea, Lukaku struggled to win a starting position and only scored 16 goals in all competitions. However, Lukaku managed to score in all seven of Inter Milan's final games last season, helping the team finish third in Serie A. Unfortunately, in the final against Manchester City, Lukaku missed two "delicious" opportunities, unable to help Inter Milan come back against the English team. Lukaku then went online to thank the fans for their support and pledged to return to fight in the hope of one day reaching the moment of writing history.
Yet, less than a month after the above statement, Lukaku broke all the bridges with the Inter Milan fans that he worked hard to rebuild last season. Furthermore, Lukaku once promised in a famous interview with Sky Sports Italia in December 2021: "If Juventus or AC Milan call me in the future (to recruit). Never. In Italy, only Inter Milan is for me."
Legendary Inter Milan goalkeeper Walter Zenga has criticised Lukaku for living a "two-faced" life. When asked if he had seen something similar before, Zenga suggested that Figo's move from Barcelona to arch-rivals Real Madrid in the summer of 2000 might have been the case. After five successful years at Barcelona, Figo shocked the football world by joining Real Madrid for a transfer fee of $70 million, becoming the most expensive player in history at the time. Figo also became the target of abuse from Barcelona fans whenever the Portuguese player returned to the Nou Camp with Real Madrid, including the infamous incident of throwing a pig's head onto the pitch. Lukaku could face similar treatment if he joins Juventus, Inter's arch-rivals.
