It is highly likely that incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris will be confirmed as the party's candidate.
The online vote was held in place of the in-person voting that usually takes place before the Democratic National Convention.
Two weeks ago, President Joe Biden announced the end of his re-election campaign and introduced Ms. Harris, 59 years old, to replace him as the Democratic candidate.
Currently, Ms. Harris has emerged as the only candidate representing the Democratic Party to participate in the race for the US President, competing with Republican candidate Mr. Donald Trump.
The electronic voting lasted five days, with nearly 4,000 delegates - mostly grassroots activists and politicians allocated during the primaries - participating in the vote.
Vice President Harris is currently at the top of the ticket and no other Democrats have come forward to challenge her, so holding a vote to confirm her as the Democratic nominee is a mere formality.
According to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Vice President Harris won the support of 99% of the delegates who signed the ballot petition, while no other candidate reached the qualifying threshold of 300 signatures of support.
Electronic voting begins at 1 a.m. on Aug. 1, and delegates have until 5 p.m. on Aug. 5 to return their ballots via an online DNC platform. An announcement confirming a candidate could come later in the day.
This is also the time when Ms. Harris begins her campaign in 7 important battleground states with her chosen running mate. There is no official information yet about who will be appointed as Ms. Harris' running mate.
