Dan Thanh strives to build new countryside

As a commune in zone 3 of Van Ban district, Dan Thang currently has 400 households, of which the Dao ethnic group accounts for over 80%. The terrain is strongly fragmented, the population is scattered, the educational level is uneven, and the poverty rate is high, making it difficult to mobilize resources from the people to build new rural areas.

Despite the difficulties, with a proactive spirit, Dan Thanh commune always strives and strives and up to now has achieved 7/19 criteria for new rural construction including: Planning; Irrigation and disaster prevention; Rural electricity; Rural commercial infrastructure; Health; Culture; Security - defense.

Mr. Ban Phuc Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dan Thang Commune, said: To achieve that result, along with investment resources and support from the State, the Party Committee and the communal government focused on propaganda so that people could understand and actively participate in implementing projects and tasks. In 2023, people participated in more than 2,000 working days, donated more than 16,000 ^m2 of land, and supported 55 million VND for public works.

To effectively propagate the construction of new rural areas, every quarter, the commune leaders hold meetings with the Party cell secretaries and village heads to inform about the results achieved and commend the villages and households that actively participate in the construction of new rural areas. Thanks to that, it creates motivation and competitive spirit among households and villages in the movement of building new rural areas.

To help people increase their income, the commune government has mobilized and encouraged people to change the structure of crops and livestock towards commodities. Dan Thang commune currently has 345 hectares of rice fields and 310 hectares of corn fields. People have actively introduced new, high-yield varieties into cultivation, replacing local varieties. The commune has also expanded the area of ​​bamboo shoots to 250 hectares (revenue of more than 60 million VND/ha/year), developed a large herd of cattle to more than 5,400 heads, 5 hectares of aquaculture, developed 35 hectares of production forests... Thanks to that, the poverty rate of the commune has decreased from 40% (in 2022) to 28% (in 2023). The average income per capita in 2023 will reach 42 million VND, an increase of 3 million VND/person compared to 2022.

In 2024, Dan Thang strives to achieve 2 more criteria of information and communication, residential housing; aims to meet new rural standards by 2025. To complete the above goals, the commune government continues to promote propaganda, raise people's awareness of participating in new rural construction; focus on implementing economic criteria and production organization.
