The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Dong Thap province to be responsible for announcing and rewarding according to regulations; directed the People's Committees of Tan Hong and Tam Nong districts to continue maintaining and improving the quality of criteria, focusing on economic and environmental criteria to ensure sustainability in new rural construction.

With the determination of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots, the consensus of the people and businesses, Tan Hong district has made progress in building new rural areas. Currently, 8/8 communes have met new rural standards, reaching 100%, of which 4 communes were recognized in the period 2016 - 2021; 4 communes were recognized in the period 2021-2023.

Currently, the socio-economic situation of Tan Hong district has achieved many outstanding results in various fields, infrastructure (transportation, irrigation, schools, etc.). The intellectual level and health of the people have been gradually improved. In particular, the economic sector has developed positively, the growth rate of some key economic sectors is stable, the average income per capita reaches more than 64 million VND/person/year in 2024. In addition, the economic structure is shifting in the right direction, gradually reducing the proportion of agriculture - forestry - fishery, gradually increasing the proportion of industry - construction, trade - services. Up to now, the agricultural sector accounts for nearly 52%, the industrial - construction sector accounts for more than 15% and trade - services accounts for over 32%.

Tam Nong district has 11 communes meeting new rural standards, of which 3 communes meet advanced new rural standards, Tram Chim town meets civilized urban criteria. The district meets 9/9 criteria, with 36/36 targets.

The rural appearance of Tam Nong district has changed a lot. Notably, the traffic system has been completely invested from the main traffic axes to the inter-hamlet and inter-commune traffic routes. The irrigation system has been invested in conjunction with the restructuring of the agricultural sector to serve the production and living needs of the people well. The power grid system has been invested synchronously, meeting the electricity needs of the people for daily life and production and the socio-economic development of the district.

Notably, the local rural economy has had positive changes. In agricultural production, many new and modern production models have emerged, associated with environmental protection, helping farmers reduce costs, increase profits... and have been developed and replicated by many localities. Models of cooperative economy, linking production and consumption between farmers, cooperatives and enterprises are increasingly promoted, making a very important contribution to the development of the district's rural economy. Along with agricultural development, Tam Nong district also encourages rural people to promote the processing industry through the OCOP Program...
