According to some high school graduation exam examiners, the average score for this year's literature exam may be higher than in 2022, fluctuating around 6-7 points.

The examiners of the 2023 high school graduation exam reported that there were more exam papers with a score of 8 than last year. In addition, one examiner said that there were exam papers with a score of 9. However, there were also exam papers with below average scores. According to this examiner, in the stacks of exam papers being graded, the lowest result was 3 points.

Sharing more about the candidates' test, an examiner said that in the reading comprehension section, most of the candidates were able to do the first two questions and got 1.5 points. However, in the next two questions, the candidates made mistakes in expression, test-taking skills, did not fully state the leading sentence, artistic devices, answered with missing ideas, incorrect keywords, instead of saying "highlight", they wrote "emphasize" so they lost points.

As for the social argumentation question, most candidates did well at 1.75 points. These are candidates who identified the main points, had the skills to do the test but lacked depth in expression and lacked originality. Quite a few candidates achieved full 2 ​​points in this part.

Another examiner said that, among the graded exams, the highest score for the literary essay section was 4.25/5. The lowest score of a candidate in this section was 1.25 points, and the average score was from 2.75 to 3.75 points. The examiner said that although the work " The Beggar's Wife" was quite familiar, the excerpt in the exam had not been of interest to students during the learning process. Therefore, the students' analysis was not deep, only about 10% of the essays showed depth and understanding of the meaning of the excerpt.

During the marking process, the examiner will give 0.5 points for creativity if the candidate's writing demonstrates knowledge of literary theory; has comparisons with other works or the writing has deep feelings, is fluent, fresh, unique, and has its own personality.

The leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that the 2023 high school graduation exam marking process was carried out strictly. The implementation of answers and marking instructions was carried out in detail and ensured the rights of candidates.

Judges' personal belongings will be sealed; judges are not allowed to use their phones during the marking period. Answers and marking instructions are not allowed to be taken home.

According to the regulations, all exams will be graded in 2 rounds, in which special exams with high and maximum scores will be reported to ensure accuracy. In addition, about 10% of the total number of exams will be checked to ensure objectivity and fairness for candidates.

It is known that literature is an essay subject so the examiners mark the papers directly. Multiple choice subjects are marked by computer.

According to the Department of Education and Training, the exam marking will be completed on July 10. From July 11, the exam marking council will carry out the work of matching exam papers and comparing exam results.

The high school graduation exam results of nearly 85,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City will be sent to the Ministry of Education and Training on July 15. The 2023 high school graduation exam results are expected to be announced at 8:00 a.m. on July 18.
