On March 24, the Ministry of Education and Training issued guidelines for organizing the 2025 high school graduation exam.
Graduation exam schedule according to current high school program
Accordingly, the 2025 High School Graduation Exam will take place on June 26 and 27, with two exam schedules for candidates studying under the new and old programs.
The reason is that this year the first batch of candidates under the 2018 program will take the graduation exam, but there are still candidates studying under the old program (2006) who need to retake the exam to be considered for graduation recognition or to get points to register for university. Therefore, the Ministry has proposed two exam schedules for these two groups of candidates.
Graduation exam schedule according to 2006 general education program
Candidates taking the graduation exam for the first time must take 4 exams, including Math and Literature. In addition, they choose 2 subjects they have studied at school (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology and Foreign Language).
The Literature exam is in essay format. The remaining subjects are multiple choice with multiple choice, true/false and short answer questions.
In the graduation score calculation formula, exam scores account for 50%; the rest is the grade 10, 11 and 12 report card scores (50%) and priority points if any. Compared to before, the report card score increased by 20%.
During the process of registering for exams, preliminary registration, and university and college admissions, candidates must use a unified type of identification document: ID card/CCCD/NDDCN/Passport number.
During the registration period, candidates wishing to apply for university and college admission must declare on the software complete and correct information with evidence to enjoy priority in university and college admission according to regulations.
Candidates taking the 2006 general education program will take exams in Literature, Math, foreign language, and one of two exams in Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civic Education).
Based on the number of candidates registering for the exam, the Department of Education and Training will arrange a number of exam locations specifically for candidates. Candidates can register for the exam and graduation recognition in person or online.
The exam results will be announced on July 16.
