Reach beyond the four walls
For many years, with the speed of industrial economic development and attracting foreign FDI capital, Binh Duong is one of the top provinces in the socio-economic field.
Many industrial parks have been built, the urbanization rate has increased, thereby attracting domestic and foreign workers to live and work in this province. According to statistics, currently Binh Duong province has more than 1 million workers living and working in.
Binh Duong is one of the provinces with a high number of immigrants coming to work and an increasing demand for housing.
From here, the housing needs of the people increased, in which the desire to access social housing projects (NOXH) is always the wish of workers and people far from their hometown coming to Binh Duong province to work.
Currently living in a rented house with an area of less than 30 square meters, Ms. Nguyen Hoai Thu (from Thanh Hoa) said: “7 years ago, I came to Binh Duong to apply for a job in VSIP 1 Industrial Park, and have been renting a house ever since. My family has 2 children, many times wanted to move but determined that we still had to endure the cramped situation, so before the Covid-19 pandemic, my husband and I went to the Becamex social housing project of Becamex IDC Corporation to buy. However, there was no sale, so until now we are still waiting for the opportunity to come to our family.”
The boarding houses with a shared hallway and four walls have made many workers dream of going far beyond this place.
Sharing the same sentiment, Mr. Pham Huy Quang (living in Di An town, Binh Duong) said: “I have worked in Song Than Industrial Park for nearly 20 years, I am old, but I still have to rent a house. For nearly half a year now, my wife and children have moved straight to Thu Dau Mot City to apply for a job in VSIP 2 Industrial Park to have enough time and register to buy social housing. I really hope that the government will build more social housing so that low-income people like us have a house to live in. Instead of paying rent, we will pool our money to pay for our own house.”
“After many years of living in a rented house, I have experienced the life of renting, stuck within four walls. I have tried to save up some money, not enough to buy an apartment or a house, but enough to buy social housing, so whenever there is a project for sale, I will register immediately,” Mr. Quang confided.
Dream of home
Ms. Pham Thi Hue, born in 1983, from Nghe An province, said that she came to Binh Duong province to start a business in 2007 and has been in Binh Duong province for more than 15 years. She left her hometown to work as a factory worker, then got married and had children. The couple's income is enough to cover their living expenses and is less difficult than in the countryside.
Because she has been attached to Binh Duong for a long time and this is also her second hometown, Ms. Hue hopes to be able to buy social housing to work with peace of mind. However, accessing to buy social housing is very difficult, requiring many verification procedures.

Many workers and laborers who have been attached to Binh Duong province for many years still wish to buy social housing to settle down and start a career.
“When you want to buy a house, you need a lot of paperwork, you have to prove your income, social insurance, even apply for temporary residence, confirm your temporary residence… When I heard the news, my husband and I immediately went to work from our hometown and all the way to Binh Duong, but when we completed the procedures, it was too late, some people were not even approved. Until now, I still have to follow the information, if there is an announcement of a project selling social housing, I will prepare the paperwork as soon as possible to buy. As workers like us, what more could we want than to buy a social housing unit to live in,” Ms. Hue shared.
Also in Binh Duong province for more than 3 years and working in the industrial park, Ms. Hoang Thi Dau, 47 years old, from Tien Giang province, said that she and her son moved from their hometown to Binh Duong. Her son is now married and both work for the same company. Ms. Hau and her husband have saved a small amount of money and the whole family is planning to register to buy social housing.
“I heard that buying social housing is difficult because of many procedures and having to register and wait for approval, but I still encourage my children to try to work and prepare documents, follow up with the relevant agencies and register when there is information. Anyway, there is work here, if there is a house, then there is no need to worry about monthly rent, that money is contributed to gradually pay off the house. Settling down and making a living, but in the countryside, I don’t know when I will be able to make a living,” Mrs. Dau confided.
It can be seen that many people and workers living and working in Binh Duong always dream of buying and owning a social housing unit. This will be a place to settle down, a second home to nurture generations and change the lives of each person and each family.
