At the exam site of Vo Truong Toan Secondary School (District 1) on the morning of June 6, Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, parent of Nguyen Ngoc Khanh Linh (student of Huynh Khuong Ninh Secondary School, District 1), brought his child to the exam site early, followed his child into the exam room and continued to wait for his child until the end of the 10th grade literature exam, even though his house was not far from the exam site.
Parents encourage their children after the literature exam on the morning of June 6.
"I was afraid that my child would have problems like stress or stomachache during the exam, so I decided to stay and 'watch' to support him and the exam board in a timely manner if needed. It is normal for students to face exam pressure, but no parent wants their child to suffer the pressure alone. I and many other people are still here because we have more than a hundred worries for our children," Giang confided.
Also at the exam site waiting for his child to finish the exam, Mr. Vo Khac Thinh, the parent of Vo Gia Hung (a student at Huynh Khuong Ninh Secondary School), also felt more "worried" than the candidate himself. "This exam not only determines high school wishes but also affects the high school graduation exam, university life and future of the child. How can I not be worried?", Mr. Thinh confided.
Sharing about his son's exam preparation process, Mr. Thinh said that recently he has taken his son to many exam preparation centers to learn more skills and prepare mentally. Because the study and exam are in charge and guided by teachers, as a parent, Mr. Thinh always pays close attention to taking care of his son "to the teeth".
Parents hug their children after the foreign language exam on the afternoon of June 6.
"Since yesterday, I have not let my child study but let him eat, drink and play freely as he pleases. Everyone has their own thoughts, but I personally believe that my child's studying has started a long time ago. If I try to cram more on the last day, it will only make him more confused and tired," said Mr. Thinh.
Right at the school gate, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong, parent of Dong Nhu Anh (a student at Tran Van On Secondary School, District 1), attentively watched her child's every move until the bell rang to start the exam period, then returned to sit on a nearby bike. Ms. Phuong said that she woke up with her child at 4:30 this morning, then continuously encouraged her child with both actions and words before she entered the exam room.
"The family supports and creates conditions for the child wholeheartedly, from nutrition through meals to encouragement through words of encouragement. This morning, the child went to the exam with a quite comfortable and happy spirit, even jokingly saying, 'Mom, I'm so excited to take the exam!'. I feel somewhat relieved," Ms. Phuong confided.
Despite the rain, many parents still stayed behind to wait for their children to finish the exam.
By the afternoon of June 6, despite the lingering drizzle, many parents at the Ban Co Secondary School (District 3) testing site still tried to stay under the awnings of nearby shops, or even endured the rain to wait for their children to finish their foreign language exam. Ms. Nguyen Hong Van, whose child attends Colette Secondary School (District 3), is one such case. "No problem," Ms. Van said with a smile when asked if it was hard to wait for her child in the rain.
Parents' happiness is often just witnessing their children's maturity and boldness.
To always accompany her child during the 2 exam days, Ms. Van said that she temporarily put aside personal work to wholeheartedly support her child on the "decision journey". "Later, the child may have to face many different 'barriers' to overcome. But the 10th grade exam will always be the first exam and also one of the most important times for the child to develop the future. Therefore, the companionship of parents is extremely necessary", Ms. Van shared.
It can be seen that, despite the stress and anxiety, parents always "hide" their thoughts in their hearts to try their best to support their children, always welcoming them with bright smiles and the warmest hugs. The image of parents crying and laughing with their children during exam days will always be the clearest proof of the boundless love that parents have for their children.
