The preliminary list of the Vietnamese team preparing for the June training session includes three players currently abroad: Nguyen Cong Phuong, Nguyen Quang Hai and Nguyen Van Toan.

Previously, three players playing abroad were not included in the first training session in March, due to being outside the FIFA schedule. This time, coach Philippe Troussier did not miss the opportunity to work directly with three stars of Vietnamese football.
Van Toan is the only player who plays regularly at Seoul E-Land when abroad. Quang Hai has not played for Pau FC's first team since February 18, and Cong Phuong has not had a proper official match for Yokohama FC.
Coach Troussier met Quang Hai in France in early February after Pau FC's match against Paris FC. Meanwhile, Cong Phuong and Van Toan have not had the chance. Cong Phuong admitted that it might be difficult for him to return to the national team because he rarely plays for his club, while Van Toan is ready to adapt to Coach Troussier's new playing style.
The FIFA schedule for this period starts from June 12 to 20. Quang Hai is expected to return home after Pau FC meets Caen in the final round of Ligue 2 on the evening of June 2. Meanwhile, Cong Phuong and Van Toan are expected to return on schedule. On the same day, June 11, Yokohama FC meets Urawa Reds in round 17 of J-League 1, while Seoul E-Land meets Seongnam in round 16 of K-League 2.
Coach Troussier plans to call up about 30 players for this training session, mainly from the leading clubs of V-League 2023 such as Hanoi FC, Hanoi Police, Thanh Hoa, Viettel.
The team will gather from June 7 after the end of round 11 of V-League 2023. The team will have a week to prepare before playing their first friendly match against Hong Kong on June 15 at Lach Tray Stadium, Hai Phong. On June 20, the team will face a stronger opponent, Syria, at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh.
