What did Quang Hai say about Bui Vi Hao, Pham Ly Duc...?

On the afternoon of March 14, the Vietnamese team entered its third training session in Binh Duong, in preparation for two matches against Cambodia (March 19, international friendly) and Laos (March 25, Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers). In an interview before the training session, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai affirmed that young players in the Vietnamese team such as Bui Vi Hao, Nguyen Thai Son, Tran Trung Kien, Pham Ly Duc, Khuat Van Khang (all born in 2003) are no longer young players.

"These players (U.22) are not young anymore because they have played in the V-League for many seasons. They are completely worthy of being here and will help a lot," Quang Hai affirmed.

Under coach Kim Sang-sik, young players are given regular opportunities in each training session to prepare for friendly matches. Although young players have little room to show their skills in the 2024 AFF Cup (only Van Khang and Vi Hao are used), in this training session, coach Kim Sang-sik called up 5 U.22 players to create continuity at the national team level.

"The Vietnamese team has more and more young players. By wearing the national team jersey, they will gain experience and unite their playing style," Quang Hai assessed.

The midfielder born in 1997 also believes that young goalkeepers like Tran Trung Kien (2003), Nguyen Van Viet (2002), Trinh Xuan Hoang (2000) are not a problem. "You all have V-League experience and are qualified to play for the national team," Quang Hai affirmed.

Vietnam team will prepare optimally

Sharing with the press, midfielder Quang Hai emphasized that the Vietnamese team will prepare the best for both matches against Laos and Cambodia.

"The match with Cambodia will be a good stepping stone for the match against Laos. The Cambodian team is a good team. They have many foreign players, so we have to focus on completing the task," Quang Hai said.

"The whole team will focus on themselves and perfect their gameplay, this is the most important task. The coaching staff will study the opponent through video. We also met them at the AFF Cup 2024 so we have good preparation for the match."

According to the 28-year-old midfielder, the coaching staff will come up with the best way to play, while the players must focus on their duties. "I haven't practiced in the past 2 days because I had some health problems, and I need more time to rest after the match. But now my physical condition is fine," Quang Hai concluded.
