37.9% of Vietnamese Internet users play games
According to statistics just released in January 2024 by the organization We Are Social, Vietnam has 78.44 million Internet users (total population is 99.19 million). Of which, 37.9% of users said that the purpose of going online is to play games. Games are also one of the types of websites or apps that Vietnamese users access the most, accounting for 37.1%.
According to the Newzoo 2022 report, Vietnam is the 3rd country in Southeast Asia in terms of the number of mobile game players with 54.6 million players.
These figures show that gaming is increasingly popular in Vietnam and gamers have become a huge consumer segment in terms of Internet connectivity needs.
However, according to We Are Social, the fixed Internet access speed in Vietnam is more than 105 Mbps for download and more than 100 Mbps for upload, with a latency of about 3 ms. According to many gamers, this speed can meet the needs of most Internet service users in Vietnam, but only at a popular level. Meanwhile, gaming activities are characterized by images, movements, and operational responses that must be instantaneous, with almost zero latency...
