Mr. Cao Hao Thi, principal of Saigon University of Technology, confirmed that the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's Internal Political Security Department (PA03) has just worked with the school about Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai using a fake degree to become a lecturer.
According to the school representative, in April 2021, Mr. Hai applied to the school for the position of guest lecturer. At that time, the head of the school's information technology department proposed that the school accept him because he knew Mr. Hai when he taught at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
Mr. Hai's teaching card was issued by the schools.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai's application to the school includes a notarized photocopy of his master's degree in information technology.
In the new phase of signing a contract with Mr. Hai, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students are studying online at home. The school has signed a contract for Mr. Hai to guide 3 students in their graduation projects and theses. The guidance is mainly done online.
By 2022, Mr. Hai continued to guide the graduation thesis for students of the information technology department of this school. In total, there were 9 students guided by Mr. Hai.
According to Mr. Thi, Mr. Hai’s incident was very regrettable but did not affect the student’s thesis evaluation results. Graduation theses are all defended by students before a panel of many teachers, so the results are guaranteed to meet the requirements.
A representative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport also confirmed that Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai signed a probationary contract with the task of a university-level teaching assistant while awaiting a professional assessment.
According to the school representative, Mr. Hai has not been allowed to teach yet, but is only on probation, so he only attends and assists in teaching university-level courses for the school to evaluate.
Mr. Hai was signed a contract by the school for probation. During this time, the school conducted a professional assessment and profile review. After the assessment, the school's organization and administration department reported that Mr. Hai's professional performance did not meet the requirements.
According to the representative, Mr. Hai's personal profile was not suitable for the position of lecturer (incomplete qualifications, not meeting the requirements). Therefore, the school decided to terminate the professional survey and not sign an official contract with Mr. Hai. "Regarding the incident related to Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai, the school has reported all this information to the police," said the school representative.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai is a figure that has recently caused a stir in public opinion when he used a fake doctorate degree to teach and apply to many universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City.
To date, at least 5 universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City have confirmed that Mr. Hai used the fake master's and doctoral degrees to apply for jobs and teach from 2016 to present.
