British magazine Time Out has just included Con Dao in its list of 24 suggested pristine, new, and less crowded destinations in the world for tourists.

Con Dao, located off the coast of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, is one of the most beautiful beach resorts in Vietnam. It is also home to Con Dao National Park, which is always covered in a deep green color of nature, mountains, forests, and trees.
Grace Beard, travel editor of Time Out, shared: “One of my favourite places is the deserted sandbanks of Hon Bay Canh, which is a conservation area for sea turtles to come and lay their eggs.”
For those who love the sea and sand, do not hesitate to experience scuba diving to see the coral reefs of many shapes and colors. Besides, visitors should not forget to walk along the coast, take souvenir photos, or immerse themselves in the cool, blue water.
She also suggests that visitors experience walking under the canopy of ancient trees in Ong Dung primeval forest, or walking on the picturesque path to the top of Thanh Gia mountain. In addition, visitors can visit Con Dao Museum and Con Dao Prison, where artifacts and historical documents are stored as well as learn about the heroic resistance period of the Vietnamese people.
In 2017, Con Dao was voted by CNN as the paradise island of Asia. According to CNN, the sea paradise of Con Dao possesses pristine coral reefs, beautiful towering granite cliffs, rows of fresh coconut trees along the crystal blue coast shimmering in the golden sunlight, hiking trails through the forest and luxurious hotels and villas by the sea ready to serve tourists. The revolutionary museum or the old prisons on the island will be attractive stops for history enthusiasts.
Con Dao was also honored by the famous travel magazine Lonely Planet in the top 10 most attractive destinations in Asia in 2017. This famous place is also in the top 5 islands that promise many interesting mysteries for tourists around the world voted by Travel and Leisure magazine and the list of 13 most attractive mysterious tourist islands in the world by Business Insider.
Con Dao - a tourist island with beautiful pristine beaches, fresh air, is considered a resort paradise. In particular, Con Dao is also a complex of historical, cultural and revolutionary historical relics of national and international significance, symbolizing the patriotism of the Vietnamese people, considered an important position in the national security and defense strategy.
Many planning orientations have been issued to build Con Dao into a synchronous and modern development associated with preserving and promoting local values, exploiting the values of landscapes and unique relics, opening up potential development directions.
According to the Project on Adjusting the Master Plan for Con Dao Construction, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province to 2030 approved in Decision No. 1518/QD-TTg dated September 5, 2012, the Prime Minister determined that “Con Dao is a unique and special tourist island of national and international significance. It has a tourism environment, urban service environment and marine-island ecological environment towards diversity and attractiveness in a sustainable direction, developing while protecting the values of natural resources and cultural history of the island, attracting tourists, residents and development investment sources.”
Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has also oriented the development planning of Con Dao towards connecting with Vung Tau city, Long Hai-Phuoc Hai, other important tourism potentials of the province in close connection with Ho Chi Minh city and the entire Southeast region.
In the first 6 months of 2024, the total number of tourists to Con Dao is estimated at 396,350, an increase of 2.74% over the same period in 2023, of which international visitors are about 14,760, an increase of 50.3% over the same period in 2023. Tourism revenue is estimated at 1,453 billion VND, an increase of 4.72% over the same period last year.
