Dr Trang Nguyen added that being a UK international alumni has opened up many opportunities for Trang to connect with talented leaders around the world in the fields of nature conservation and sustainable development.

Over the past 16 years, Dr. Trang Nguyen has demonstrated profound contributions and influence in the field of wildlife conservation and led WildAct to become one of the pioneering non-profit organizations in conducting courses on illegal wildlife trade and animal welfare in Vietnam.

Currently, Trang Nguyen directs WildAct to develop programs that create opportunities for individuals and communities to actively participate in managing and conserving natural resources, preventing illegal hunting and wildlife trafficking in 7 provinces and cities including: Dak Lak, Quang Binh, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Ha Giang, Thua Thien-Hue and Hanoi.

In particular, in Dak Lak province, she and the WildAct team, in collaboration with local partners, focused on implementing species and habitat conservation projects in Chu Yang Sin National Park - one of the most biodiverse areas in Vietnam. To date, the community forest protection patrol team, in conjunction with the rangers and specialized forest protection forces in the national park, has patrolled 270 km of forest roads, detected and neutralized 1,596 animal traps and 50 hunters' camps.

With many positive contributions to society, Trang Nguyen has become an inspirational young face who has won many domestic and international awards. In early 2023, Trang Nguyen became the only representative of Vietnam selected to participate in the Obama Foundation's Future Young Leaders program - Asia-Pacific region.

In addition, she is also the first Asian to receive the Princess of Girona Foundation International Award presented by Princess Leonor of Spain. This award was given to Trang for her work in protecting nature in Vietnam as well as around the world.

Trang was also in the top 5 of the social contribution category of the "The Women of Future" award in Southeast Asia by The Women of The Future Programme (UK). In 2018, Trang received the Future for Nature award - an award dedicated to conservationists around the world.

These awards not only recognize the contributions of Trang and WildAct but also demonstrate Vietnam's determination to act and contribute to the common cause of nature conservation and sustainable development of the world.
