Le Hong Phong High School, Ho Chi Minh City, the only representative from the South to compete in the International Math Olympiad

Le Phan Duc Man is the only student from Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region selected to participate in the 2025 International Olympic Competition IMO.

This morning (March 31), according to the announcement of the Ministry of Education and Training on the results of the exam to select excellent students for the national team to compete in the 2025 International and Regional Olympics, Le Phan Duc Man, a 12th grade math student at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (HCMC) is the only representative of HCMC and the southern provinces selected for the team representing Vietnam to compete in the 2025 International Olympics.

Accordingly, Le Phan Duc Man will join 5 other students from Hanoi National University, Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh, and Nghe An provinces to participate in the upcoming International Mathematical Olympiad - IMO 2025 in Australia.

Sharing this information, Ms. Pham Thi Be Hien, Principal of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, excitedly said that this is very good news for the school and a source of pride for the students, because to be selected for the international Olympic team is a high requirement and the efforts are difficult to measure.

Miss Hien also shared that in the national excellent student exam for the 2024-2025 school year, Man won second prize and, along with 187 students from across the country, participated in the national team selection round for the international competition. Duc Man is a student with a passion for learning math. Man is very obedient, intelligent, always determined and persistent, never giving up on a difficult math problem.

"Although he is a good student, Duc Man is not afraid to learn from his friends and teachers when he encounters difficulties. In particular, Man is very meticulous, careful and thorough when solving problems...", said the Principal of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted.

According to information from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, in recent years, the school's students have participated in international Olympic competitions and have achieved high results. In 2021, the school had student Phan Huynh Tuan Kiet win a bronze medal at the International Math Olympiad; In 2022, student Nguyen Viet Phong won a gold medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad.

According to regulations of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council from 2021, students who win international awards will receive a maximum of 200 million VND for a gold medal and a minimum of 50 million VND for a consolation prize or a special prize. For regional awards, the highest reward currently being awarded by Ho Chi Minh City to students is 120 million VND for a gold medal and the lowest is 30 million VND for a consolation prize or a special prize.
