The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) plans to completely eliminate early admissions instead of limiting the quota to 20% as previously proposed. 12th graders should pay attention to this content to be proactive and best prepared for the 2025 university entrance exam.
According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training, one of the important changes from the 2025 university entrance exam is that early admission will not be applied. All admission methods will be considered in one round.
It is expected that the regulations on university and college admissions for preschool education will be issued by the Ministry of Education and Training in February 2025.
Compared to the published draft, the official admission regulations have many adjustments to ensure fairness, suitability with the actual situation and improve the quality of recruitment sources.
Up to now, many universities have announced their expected enrollment plans for 2025. Basically, schools apply a variety of admission methods.
Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training's plan to limit the quota to 20% for this method received mixed opinions. However, the Ministry of Education and Training affirmed that eliminating early admission will not affect the rights of candidates.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, said that the concept of early admission here means early in terms of time, admission before the high school graduation exam. In the general admission round after the high school graduation exam, schools can use all admission methods such as: considering academic records, considering graduation exam scores, scores of separate exams...
Thus, with this adjustment, the Ministry of Education and Training only abolishes early admission. Universities still use the same admission methods as before, but the admission time is delayed to the general admission time of the Ministry of Education and Training.
In fact, in recent years, schools that have conducted early admissions have had to wait for the final results from the Ministry of Education and Training. Therefore, according to universities, completely eliminating early admissions will not have much of an impact.
Dr. Trinh Van Toan - Head of Admissions Department, University of Electricity said that the admission plan is not much affected. Other methods will be considered at the same time as the high school graduation exam scores.
In addition to eliminating early admission, from the 2025 university entrance exam, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that if universities use high school study results for admission, they must use the results of the entire 12th grade year.
From the 2024 admission period onwards, higher education institutions using high school academic results for admission often only use scores from 5 semesters, that is, grades 10, 11 and semester I of grade 12. This causes students to be negligent and not focus on studying in semester II of grade 12, affecting the results of the high school graduation exam.
Regarding the new points expected in the 2025 admission regulations, Dr. Nguyen Phi Long, Head of Training Department of Vietnam Women's Academy, said that the competition rate for admission by considering academic records this year is expected to increase. Therefore, candidates need to calculate, consider, and carefully study the admission information of the schools when choosing the admission method.
