Here, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha inspected the area outside the Dao River dike, in Nghia An commune, Nam Truc district; and inspected the area outside the Red River dike, in My Tan commune, Nam Dinh city.

Due to heavy rains and water flowing from upstream, the above areas are currently deeply flooded; houses, especially the entire crop area of ​​the people are deeply flooded, over a large area.

In which, My Tan commune has 8 villages outside the dike, with 1796 households/5965 people living.

On the afternoon of September 11, a 2-meter-long section of the dike at the end of Hong Ha 1 village broke, causing river water to flood the fields, gardens, and residential areas, directly inundating Hong Ha 1 and 2 villages.

At 6:15 p.m. on September 11, a section of the city's wastewater canal collapsed, directly affecting Hong Phong 2 and Hong Phu villages.

At 1:00 p.m. on September 12, the dike passing through Hong Phong 1 village overflowed, causing flooding.

In the above context, by 10:00 p.m. on September 11, local authorities and armed forces had evacuated 573 households/1,774 people to relatives' houses and commune health stations, while students were allowed to stay at school.

The locality has not recorded any human losses, however, flood water has damaged 65ha/119ha of rice; 265/305ha of trees, flowers, vegetables; 53.7ha/53.7ha of fish farming, 23 cages/23 fish cages of My Tan commune, due to deep flooding.

With the support of the military, police and local people, over 15,000 sandbags were packed, transported, reinforced key points, prevented landslides, prevented overflows and evacuated people from the affected areas; transported necessities to areas where people were affected...

After listening to the report and conducting the inspection, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha acknowledged the efforts of the Party committees at all levels, the government and the people of Nam Dinh province in storm and flood prevention, proactively evacuating people, preventing human losses, and acknowledged the efforts of the local military and police forces in supporting people in preventing natural disasters.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha listened to the leaders of Nam Dinh province report on the field and gave instructions.

In the immediate future, the Deputy Prime Minister directed Party committees and authorities in Nam Dinh to focus on reinforcing and protecting dikes; drainage. Issues beyond their capabilities must be reported to the central government for decision.

He noted that after the flood recedes, localities need to focus on handling environmental issues; forecasting and preparing conditions to respond to epidemics arising after floods; preparing necessary conditions to soon restore production activities, especially crop production and aquaculture...

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha visited, encouraged and presented gifts to people who were evacuated at My Tan Primary School; visited, encouraged and presented gifts to primary school students of the commune who had to stay at school.
