In the second episode of the Empowering Tomorrow talk show aired on March 30, experts suggest how to choose a university major based on understanding yourself, the market, and the training program.
In the first episode, broadcast on March 29, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) and Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Khanh - Marketing Director of Navigos Group Vietnam (owner of Vietnamworks) guided young people on how to understand themselves and the skills to respond and adapt to the uncertain labor market.
Continuing the journey to help students find the three words "understanding", including: understanding themselves, understanding the market, understanding how universities train in different fields and professions, the two experts and Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ha Minh Quan - Director of the International Training Institute ISB, UEH, will provide a multi-dimensional perspective on the market and how universities design training programs and implement teaching to keep up with trends in an uncertain society.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Hung, today's higher education is built on two factors: anticipating the trends of the times and meeting the needs of the labor market. Accordingly, universities have made significant changes in building training programs towards multi-dimensional, regional and international impacts. That is, students after graduation need to have enough skills to develop in both domestic and global markets.
Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Khanh also commented that instead of looking to large economic centers such as Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, workers can develop in potential local labor markets when fully equipped with the necessary skills at university level and understanding the context.
In addition, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ha Minh Quan also emphasized that Gen X and Gen Y have the mindset of "mastering one profession, achieving glory for life" and are associated with a stable mindset in their career journey. However, Gen Z, Alpha or later generations tend to build a career path that changes at least once or twice with unrelated or closely related fields.
"Therefore, universities are making efforts to equip multidisciplinary knowledge for the new generation of learners to be ready for these changes," he added.
Thus, with the change in training trends and market shifts, students will have more choices and need to understand the content and teaching methods of schools before making a decision for the transition from high school to university. This will be answered by experts in the second Empowering Tomorrow talk show.
The second episode of the Empowering Tomorrow talk show has the theme "Opportunities and choices that today's 5.0 university brings".
Empowering Tomorrow is co-organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) in collaboration with VnExpress newspaper and Truong Nguoi Ta fanpage, broadcast live on UEH fanpage, Youtube UEH Channel, VnExpress fanpage and Truong Nguoi Ta.
Career guidance is a necessary activity for sustainable development for the future of the young generation, especially middle and high school students. Accordingly, with the theme "Sustainable Career Guidance 5.0", the program consists of two episodes with the goal of helping students make decisions about choosing the right career and university. This is an important milestone, requiring adolescents to have a more comprehensive view of themselves, the market and the education system.
"5.0 - the era of a super intelligent society" is what will happen with the time frame determined to be 2035 or maybe earlier. This leads to the explosion of many keywords such as "the rise of a series of super technologies", "enhancing human-machine interaction", "putting people at the center"... This change affects people, the labor market and the way universities design training programs.
Therefore, Empowering Tomorrow and its team of experts will help students answer questions, thereby making the right decisions before university. Through this, parents can also receive a lot of information and solutions to accompany their children in the process of planning their future.
