Quang Ninh provincial leaders presented flowers and souvenirs to congratulate passengers departing from Van Don airport.
At 8:20 this morning (April 25), Vietjet Air flight number VJ486 carrying 118 passengers departed from Can Tho International Airport at 6:00 the same day and landed at Van Don International Airport (Quang Ninh). On the same day, flight number VJ487, carrying 176 passengers, departed from Van Don (Quang Ninh) at 8:55 and is expected to land in Can Tho at 11:10. This is the first round-trip flight marking an important milestone in connecting Quang Ninh - Can Tho.
According to Quang Ninh province, the opening of the Quang Ninh - Can Tho flight route is to concretize the contents of Notice No. 67 (dated March 7, 2023) of the conclusion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the working session with the leaders of Quang Ninh province on February 12 and the working results of the Standing Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee with the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee on March 10, 2023.

Accordingly, the task is to urgently build a passenger and cargo transport route between Van Don International Airport and Can Tho International Airport; facilitate the transport of goods from the South to the North, reduce costs, create advantages for Mekong Delta products to access the Chinese market most quickly and effectively; at the same time promote logistics development in Quang Ninh and the tourism market of the two localities as well as the region.
The Van Don (Quang Ninh) - Tra Noc (Can Tho) route operated by Vietjet Air officially started operating from April 25, with a frequency of 1 flight/day, scheduled for Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday every week.
Up to this point, flights in the first week on April 25, 27 and 29 have been fully booked on both routes Van Don (Quang Ninh) - Tra Noc (Can Tho) and vice versa. Currently, the number of passengers booking tickets continues to increase in the days leading up to the April 30 - May 1 holiday.
Mr. Trinh Dang Thanh, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, said that tourists traveling from Van Don to Can Tho will visit typical destinations of the gardens and rivers of the Mekong Delta. In the coming time, travel agencies will exploit more destinations in Phu Quoc and Cambodia to bring new and attractive experiences to tourists.
On the contrary, for products for tourists from Can Tho to Van Don, companies focus on product groups on Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, Yen Tu relic site, island areas; tourism products associated with the cultural identity of ethnic minority areas of Quang Ninh province, border tourism products through Mong Cai border gate and expanding the scope of exploiting tourists associated with the northern provinces.

According to Mr. Trinh Dang Thanh, the Mekong Delta region is a potential market with densely populated localities. In the coming time, the authorities of the two localities will coordinate to implement many key measures to effectively exploit this flight route.
