In 2004, the Vietnam - China Friendship Palace was inaugurated by Prime Minister Phan Van Khai and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. On November 12, 2017, during his official visit to Vietnam, Chinese President Xi Jinping symbolically handed over the key to the Vietnam - China Friendship Palace to National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
