Hundreds of curious locals and tourists were excited to see 21 treasures of Hai Phong, including 18 national treasures, which have just been displayed at the Hai Phong Museum. In particular, the set of gold and silver artifacts in the Nghe Temple Sanctuary was unveiled for the first time.
On the morning of May 11, the Department of Culture and Sports of Hai Phong in collaboration with collector An Bien organized the opening of an exhibition displaying 18 national treasures to introduce to the people, the public and tourists about the precious heritages in the land at the estuary, on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Liberation of Hai Phong city and the 2024 Red Flamboyant Festival .
Hundreds of people and tourists came to admire 21 treasures of Hai Phong, including 18 national treasures. In particular, the set of gold and silver artifacts in the Nghe Temple Sanctuary, which was kept, preserved and received by Hai Phong Museum in February 2024, was announced for the first time.
The set of metal artifacts includes about 20 valuable and meaningful artifacts for Hai Phong people, associated with the worship of female general Le Chan, who laid the foundation for the formation of today's Hai Phong city, revered by the people as the Holy Mother and Thanh Hoang of the city.
The necklace consists of 999 gold beads, earrings, bracelets, cards, betel nuts and leaves... made of gold along with many other gold and silver jewelry artifacts. According to the Hai Phong Museum, based on the characters on the artifacts , researchers initially determined that this group of antiques dates back to the Nguyen Dynasty, donated by a person named Phan Tran Truc to Nghe Temple, the place of worship of Female General Le Chan.
The Bronze Vase (in the middle) is a typical, unique and representative artifact of the Dong Son culture. The vase is 53.5cm high, well-proportioned, with a vertical mouth, a flat dome lid, a bulging belly, and wide legs. The entire body is decorated with raised dots like toad skin and 6 raised bands around the mouth, neck and legs. The base is perforated, decorated with a herd of deer and cows following each other and moving counterclockwise. The deer and cows are perforated, showing 3-dimensional space.
Two bronze incense burners, a lid of a Nghe statue (Mac Dynasty, early Le Trung Hung Dynasty, 16th and 17th centuries) and a purple-blue ceramic plate (Early Le Dynasty, 15th century) are 2 of 18 national treasures on display at Hai Phong Museum.
National treasure Blue and white ceramic incense burner is a ceramic product created during the Early Le Dynasty, decorated with a four-clawed dragon, large in size, and with perfect technique. According to experts, this incense burner belongs to the high-class ceramic line, demonstrating techniques from shaping, embossing, decorative painting to product firing techniques.
Hai Phong Museum also displays hundreds of ceramic artifacts from various historical periods. Of which, there are 9 white-glazed ceramic artifacts from the Ly Dynasty including: four teapots, two parallel sentences and three plates, recognized as national treasures on December 21, 2021.
Many ceramic artifacts from different historical periods were jointly displayed to the public at Hai Phong Museum by collector An Bien.
